My names John , I'm 23 and work with corporate records (whoo hoo!)
I'm pretty new to the vw scene. I started out basicly a purist, but I keep finding myself drawn to the volksrods... So I've decided to find my self a split single or double cab and rod it out. Unfortunatly we don't see to many of them here in colorado.... I'm on the prowl though....
My current cars are a 1955 bug that was rescued out of a garage after 24 years and a 1966 bug my girlfriend and I bought from a 65 year old school teacher.

Figured I'd throw in an Update here
I sold the first '55 I had and bought a chopped '55 that needed finished
Used to look like this:

And now it looks like this:

Long story short, I was going to buy the car when it was black but I missed out, The buyer painted it but then defaulted on the deal with the seller. I happened to be in the right place in the right time I and picked it up for less than I was originally going to pay.
Electrical, engine and interior work still to be completed
I also bought a ratty '58 Kombi

I haven't updated this thing forever.... so time for some random stuff...
I have a new website:
My Webpage (http://home.comcast.net/~bluspecs/House_of_BluSpecs.html)
Finally fixed the overheating problem in my '55. I had to add some heat shield insulation between the header and the the rear apron. I also added some Kadrons.
Of course now that that is fixed its spewing oil everyware so it looks like I'll be pulling the engine on it yet again.

Put powdercoated wheels and a full length rack on my Kombi. I picked up some z-bed brackets that turn the stock rear seat into a bed but I haven't put them in yet.
I also rebuilt the engine and installed it, I still need to fire it up for the first time though.
I got Married on the 13th and we had a VW theme to our wedding. We had a bug Ice sculpture and gave out boxed collector bugs as favors. If theres any intrest I can post some pics of that stuff..
My wife and I bought each other these bikes as wedding gifts.

I had a productive weekend.
I finally got the engine I rebuilt for my bus running well. so when I decided to take it for a spin around the block I found that neither the brakes or the idiot lights in the speedo were working.
Brakes are my bane always have been.
I got some hose and a one way valve from the pet store and blead them out. I have some brakes now but it's still prety scary. I guess I have some more air in there. I think I may try one of those Motive power bleeders.
Once I pulled the speedo to look at it I found an electrical fire waiting to happen. Melted wires, bare spots, a loose hot wire....good times. after about 30 min of taping and reconnecting wires to where they should go I got all the speedo lights working and chased away the impending fire demons.

I was in a parade this weekend with a community theatre company.
One of the guys gave me a cd of pics so i decided to put a few up on here.
parade 1 (http://home.comcast.net/~bluspecs/Pictures/121104Parade12.jpg)
Parade 2 (http://home.comcast.net/~bluspecs/Pictures/121104Parade04.jpg)
Parade 3 (http://home.comcast.net/~bluspecs/Pictures/121104Parade05.jpg)
Parade 4 (http://home.comcast.net/~bluspecs/Pictures/121104Parade07.jpg)
I also found that my transaxle is leaking fluid pretty badly from the input shaft seal. (I changed it out a few weeks ago and now it's leaking from the same spot.
I lost most of it throughout the parade style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/eek1.gif
The fluid is almost like ATF so I figure I'l Drain (the oz. or so thats left) it and refill with Dino goo. Hopfully that won't leak so much.... I really don't want to pull hthe trans for a rebuild.
