Hi all,
You've seen me for the STF for awhile now. I'm the one who saved a 1968 Squareback from being junked. The project is to make it look like an early delivery style vehicle. I've been into VW's since 1985,but I took a break in 1992. I'm now back into it full steam.Since the type 4 engine deal fell through I'm going to run a good 'ol 1600 . Also looking at putting a bench seat in it as well.Once the e-brake issue is figured out. So'you'll see me on hear asking questions time to time.

Today I started building a new engine for the car...I had everything but a damn oil pump!Oh well,I'll get that in the morning. I building a 1600 with dual drla 36's,straight cut gears,110 cam...it should be nice and obnoxiuos style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/licklips.gif .I start the cutting next weekend.Buying all the tubing this week to reinforce it.I haven't decided on a truck or vert.I'll cut the vert first and if it looks good I'll keep it,if not..just keep cuttin!

All the baja crap was torn off today and the cuttin will start this weekend.I have to brace the pan first.I will be making a trcuk, something like butcher wills. One of the problems is going to be making the back half of the cab.I have 2 vw doors that will be used.My goal is to have this one the road in 2 weeks! Wish me luck...

Went ahead with tthe stretch on the front end.The hardest part is figuring out the steering. The box is farther out and higher.Everything is tacked in for the steering.I'm waiting for one part that should be here Friday...I hope.I'm planning on painting it this weekend if all goes well.

Well,I redesigned my steering, alot cleaner :D .I ran a buggy steering shaft, and removed some metal above where the stock steering shaft was. This was then a straight shot to the steering box,I didn't have to use a universal at all style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif .The baby moons came in as did my 2.00 ebay merged exhaust style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/funny.gif . I'll take pics and post them Saturday....Getting the car ready for paint. This car should be on the road by the end of the week style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wub.gif

Last weekend I took it for a 200 mile round trip, ran great style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wub.gif Lots of looks and "what the hell is that"!
I came across a 67 bug, well,I bought it! 1967 is my favorite year for the type 1 and type 3. My dilema is that I want to use the 73 pan for it.So,I think I'll enjoy the rod until winter and swap pans and sell the 73 body with the 67 pan..so if anyone wants a volksrod for a winter project email me.Another reason is that We may be moving to Mississippi soon and they have fender laws style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/fingerclear.gif I'll post pics of the car when I get it in a couple of weeks.

Well,I have the 67 bug now....the 73 body is in poor shape so I'm going to swap bodies and cut the 67 up.I think I'll just make some fenders for it so I can drive it in any state. The car is just the body and pan...no electrical...nothing style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/eek1.gif So I get to learn how to rewire my car  This should be fun.....

Well, the swap started this week! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/Dancing.gif The body is on the 73 pan.The 67 was hit hard on the side at one time and I had some probs aligning the body...lag bolts took care of that problem B) . I started the wiring and it's a pain in the nuts! In the morning I'm going to the local shop and buying some lowered spindles and a long list of things needed for the car.Good thing I sold the pan style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif I'll post pics when it's finished....

The wiring is almost complete. The lowered spindles are isntalled, engine back in and the car is on the ground. All I have to do is fab up some brackets for the brake resevoir, install the decklid, cut and install the gastank, finish the interior and install the glass.....I will hopefully be driving it Friday style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/Dancing.gif

Well, Alot of things have happend since I built the car...I ended up driving it for most of the last summer. Then I was transferred to Keesler AFB,MS. Had to sell the car and put the fasty in storage.Moved down here settled in then drove back up to Ohio to get the Fastback and all my tools. My wife Spring bought an old vw show car so I ended up with the Fastback style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif . Since the car has been sitting for awhile (about 2 years). I have alot of minor rust issues to deal with before they get major.I have to swap out engines from the t-3 to her bug since she built the engine and wants to run it in her bug. I kept the engine from my volksrod so that is going into the t-3....before anyone gets their undies in a wad both engines were/are type 3 blocks. When the engines were built the oil sending holes were tapped for t-1 applications. So,no worries about cooling issues style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/eek1.gif .
The Fastback will be painted a satin green once I get to that point. It still has the 80's colored seafoam green 8 spokes on it! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif .I'll update more later on.
