Looking good. Are they slanting down a bit or is it just me. I thought they were a little droupy on the first post, but I thought it was just me...

Looks great style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif Is the roof angle chopped also? Any other mods you're planning on doing? I say full length ragtop. Keep it up style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smokin.gif
Also I say leave the rear hatch open and attach a double layered spoiler instead on the hatch hinge arms style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif

they look like they are sloped down because they are following the body line on the top of the fender and wheel skirts are my next project thanks for the compliments i really like the way they are coming out
PapaG

Doh!!!
I now see that they are following the fenders... I was trying to look at them like 57 Chevy fins....
Oh well I can't see the pictures in those funny designs that you have to stare at a long time. Even better when I finally see what everyone else sees.
Damn bi-focals....

I know they're not too easy to come by, but if you could get your hands on an old hearse body, you could scavenge the hinges off of it. Would think it'd be almost perfect.

love the fins.... very original... you should paint it up like the ghost busters mobile... style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/funny.gif not really though... thats excellent work. how much did you pay for the one piece rear windows? i had a pair w/ rubbers and all that i was gonna get rid of and had them leanin against the shop outside one night. that was a windy night. it blew one of them about 30 and shattered it.... style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yelling.gif well keep up the good work

The rear wheel opening from a '57 Chevy would be cool.I'm sure patch panels are available cheap.

It might take a second to get my idea accross but what if
You make the back hatch fo it get flush in the sides with a small part at the top so you could pop the deck lid open and then slide it into the car sort of like a garrage door. so if you went to a show you could open the back and not have to duck out of the way to get to the back of the car.
Hope that came across the way it look like in my head. I looks cool keep up the work

i think he ought to rig up one of those phase dimension transducers. That way he can push a button and the rear lid will be shifted out of phase with this dimension into a parralell dimension and dissappear. of course the folks in the other dimension might be suprised to see a decklid suddenly appear. probably need to set the coordinates to a storage building.
but then again it might be easier to just put a small cloaking device on it but you would still bump your head. how about a vernegian matter reducer? he could shoot it with the reducer and put it in his pocket until after the show.

I really thought long and hard about using early type 3 taillights on my Ghia. I have a 65 squareback sitting around but just could not bring myself to cut the quarter ends and tail light mounts off of it. I think they would look very good though.

John:
I heard somewhere that some Type3's and KG's share the same taillights? Late model ones I think... I do liek the early ones... My only KG was a 73 and I think it had lights like my 71 squareback,

I always wanted to put a '60 Corevette taillight on a Ghia. Should work fine:

I read a story somewhere on the history of the KarmenGhia. Pretty sure it was Hot VW. anyway, they talked about how the designer from karmen went to ghia in italy and did a backdoor deal for a design cause he couldn't come up with a good one. What he was given was a concept car that ghia had built for ferarri. The article had a pic of the original concept car which is only slightly different than the vw version. i always thought it would be cool to rebuild a ghia to look like that ferarri version. then stuff a twin turbo 911 in it's butt :D

Hey KG72 -
I know of a L7 back and a fastback, they are crusher bound. Need any parts, like the taillight area? That goes for everybody. The fastback is a '67, the squareback has the front bullet style signals, no year.
Let me know, the '67 is going away in a few weeks.

I need a rear apron to replace the crunched one on our '68
http://pages.cthome.net/jaltemus/images/rear%20apron.jpg
Its what is separating our Fastback from the bodyshop. Do either of the above mentioned, crusher-bound cars have a good rear apron?
