Man, it sounds very cool!!:bow::bow:

I am digging the possibilities. One issue, I have a Scat T handle shifter with lock out. It can't be much higher profile or it would interfere with my dash when shifting into 1st and 3rd.

Iv airbrushed before and the skill you have is what iv always dreamed of becoming. (but never will :smilespin:)

IM blown away on not only the airbrushing but how you can get the faces to look alive. theres so many ways to screw up a face to make it look 2d,cartoony,blank, or unbalanced.

you nailed the look and from what i seen of your other work it comes very natural to you. Natural is more important than skill IMO but you have both.:bow::bow:

Re: My concept for the general Vee

Thanks for the kind words guys. I have been inspired by many here. I think the biggest thing I had going into the project was almost 2 years of planning and dreaming. I watched some great rides come to life here in the 5 years I have been hanging out.

Here are some shots from this eve. I reassembled the the handles. and mirrors. I then started to paint the rear brake lights. I sand blasted the brackets and housings. I scotch brited the lens. Then I masked it off in rows of 1/4 in tape and cut out the "black out" lines. I used plastic spray primer under the drab paint. I like the way it looks. It helps to break up the maltese a bit and not so obvious now.

Re: My concept for the general Vee

Thanks for the kind words and Thank you West Coast Metric. I got all my seals on Fri. Weeee. So today I put in the deck lid seal and the front trunk seal. I also got the rest of the Raptor liner sprayed on the inside of the car's front bulkhead. I also undercoated in the rear.

I bead blasted the master cylinder and also the pedals then painted the pedals. Got everything hooked up before I had to perform a yoga position to get them in when the body was attached. If you have ever replaced pedals, you know what I am talking about.

Tomorrow after noon, the pan meets the body for the first time in a while. I got busy this past few weeks and need the shop space. So I am kind of advancing my schedule a bit. But, I will be able to work around it.

I also found a guy not far who says he can handle the windshield chop. Weee. I ordered new aftermarket glass for it.

Dammit, slow it down and stop doing such badass artwork! You're making us look bad! :funny:

Bang up job as always!

Question, since you live a generally cold area and you seem like you know your stuff when it comes to paint. What temp activator did you use for your paint? I ask cause I'm using a med temp, 70-80. My 70-80 temp days are numbered. Should I worry about anything if I heat my garage but the temp isn't exactly 70. Say 65º. Wont it just cure a little slower and perhaps make my paint lay flatter. :Idunno:

Palepainter November 3rd, 2010 01:22 PM

Re: My concept for the general Vee

I use mid temp. I spray between 58-68 range for the most part, even with heat. I like it slower, it flows better. I just give it more time between coats. Not much wetsanding needed when it flows out nice.

Thanks guys. It has been a blast since I have completed all the sanding for now. I will sand and buff it after I get it all bolted up. It is pretty smooth. But a month of curing will do it some good for level sanding and buff.

Tonight I got the headlights and the bumper painted. I will bolt it up tomorrow after heading out with the family in the AM.

Have a great weekend everyone.

How about dulling the diamond plate by spraying a subtle grey on them, them scuffing the diamonds to look more like a wear pattern or just have the tops exposed as bright alum??
That bright alum just seems like it will stand out too much~

I have overrun here at work, it is a good thing these days. I have been doing a lot of work for the NAMM show in Anaheim in Jan. Almost caught up.

I have been sorting through all of my old hardware and blasting it all up here and there. I finally got the doors painted and assembled ready to mount to the car in the next day or so. Put all new gaskets and seals in everwhere. Thanks WCM. I am trying to find some stainless countersunk metric screws for the hinges.

I have been collecting the materials for the interior. My wife has been warming up with the sewing machine. I think she is going to do fine.

Mucho Grassy Ass.

Tonight I hung the doors and did the alignment as well. Took a little bit of fudging, but got them closing nicely with the new weatherstripping. I have been bead blasting everything that is shiny. Mostly chrome, but the aluminum parts have cleaned up nicely.

I also blasted all the bezels on the instrumentation and installed them after I wetsanded and buffed the dash.

Re: My concept for the general Vee

Today I got a few hours in after work. I managed to chop the wiper arms. I installed the wiper mechanism after a good cleaning and paintwork. I also blasted a bunch of pieces for the ragtop.

I put the drivers seat in and sat in it for a while and made some Vrrrooomm Vrooom noises for a while. :) I installed the rear view mirror to see how far down it hung. Kind of low, do not know what to do just yet.

I also chopped the visors down and made them out of the diamond plate. I installed the passenger side tonight, but didn't get pic. I will get one tomorrow.

Finally, I did some photoshopping to get a feel for the future black wheels. I am still looking for some decent street slicks for the rear 12 in wide wheels.

I blasted for about 3 hours today on more miscellaneous parts and bolts. Got the entire ragtop section ready for paint. I finished up the visors. Mounted them. I am going to paint the frame work of the visors as well.

Thanks Al. I had given that much consideration. When they are in the up position, I have a better chance of cracking my head on the rag opening. :) When they are down, they should help keep zombies from breaking through the glass.:stoned::stoned:

Grassy ass!!! I have some cool stuff planned for the seats. The same theme will carry over into the floorboards and rear seating area and storage. I will dig up the sketches later on and post them.

I got a bunch of parts painted out today. Black on black. Now I have to find small windshield wiper blades. Anyone have any ideas. I am thinking 8in blades would work great. I googled, but no luck.

I also put in the rear glass. :panic:
