Here is my little baby. She was a rescue that we fostered then decided to keep. She was part of a dog fighting bust(not Mick Vick). We were a bit worried about her being vicious but she has been nothing but a sweetheart. Her and the others were tied to trees and were hardly feed or given water. She spent six months in a kennel as states evidence, then 3 more till we got her. I looked up the news footage and she was shown being carried off the property by the ASPCA. Despite what she went through she is an amazing dog.

Ya know our dog Thunder who I still miss to this day loved to fetch a tennis ball, even in 4 feet of grass, he would sniff it out bring it back, he would not give it to you, you had to take it from him, sometimes it took a while, he would growl and snarl like he was gonna bit your arm off, he never ever drew blood from anyone, but it was fun to get someone to do it that had never done it before, yeah I'd hafta show them once, sometimes 2 or 3 times, he sounded down right mean and he would shake his head all over the place pulling back once you were able to get a grip on the ball, I have it some place on a VHS tape somewhere, IF I ever fin it I'll record it on my phone to you tube,
I can't not put a couple pics of him now, my eye's are starting to dehydrate me just thinking about him, it's just been 6 years this past July that we lost him to old age, he was just a few months over 13 years which is old for a basset, his last few days he could only walk if I put a towel under his chest n belly to help him along
Here's 2 pics, the 1st one he was 11 years old

https://vgy.me/HV3gNN.jpg

This last one was about 6 to 7 weeks before he went to sleep forever, he was being punished for leaving a Thunder Bolt right in front of the door, I told him to get in the backyard behind the fence where I couldn't see him, he refused to go behind the fence so I set the box on his head so I didn't hafta look at him, I told him 5 minutes, he dropped it after about 3 minutes
https://vgy.me/BwF3BM.jpg
He was a really smart Basset, most are stuburn, he was, but he was smart as well

She is a hoot Jeff. Into everything. We have had to child proof the house because of her. Five other cats, no trouble. Now anything not tied down or locked up is subject to being chewed on, knocked over, or played with. She also refuses to accept that kitties are fed in the garage, not at the dining room table.

New rescue cat is at it again. The work light wasn't plugged in and the camera was right there so Beth took a quick picture before she grabbed the spray bottle and gave Amber an educational spritz.

Re: The PET THREAD...

I fixed it so they can't dig under the door, I had some old concrete window sills from when my grandpa put bay windows in there house back in the late 70's, they're 2-1/2 inches thick and I needed 64 inches long, I layed the shorter ones on the bottom and cut the 6 foot long one to length and stacked them 3 layers, then on the outside I layed twelve 12 inch square concrete pavers in 2 rows 6 in a row, on the inside I just layed a piece of plywood on the ground, so far I've only seen 1 spot where they tried to start digging, but they only got the gravel off the top, then they hit the concrete that the door frame posts are set in, no sign of them since I pushed the gravel back, but I've seen them running along the fence and under the shed, I took old socks and stuffed them with rags to the size of soft balls and soaked them in ammonia and shoved them into all the openings I could see, hopefully that will run them off, that's how I ran them out from under our front porch last year, no signs of them up front so far this year, I walk around and check every other day, as much as I'd hate to do it if they come back I'm getting out the shotgun, they ate well over half our tulips and we had planted 95 bulbs in 2016 to the 20 tulips we had, lil bastards

Looks like it will be tomorrow when the puppy gets dropped off, I was so ready today

Super cute pup! Watch out for her tail. My neighbor has two grownup versions of your pup, and when they come over to greet me their tails thump the heck out of my shins.:grin::grin:

metalmaster1766 August 3rd, 2018 06:00 PM

Re: The PET THREAD...

I know all about tails, all 3 of the basset hounds I had knocked drinks off the coffee table, broke ornaments on the Christmas trees, had to put anything breakable or light weight up
This dogs tail seems much shorter than a basset hound's, but I'm sure once he's full grown we'll hafta watch out and put stuff up
The other day I was at Walgreens to pick up some meds, on my way back to the pharmacy I went down the pet aisle and was looking at all the toys, all but one of the toys that had a squeaker in them I didn't like, then I picked up this pig, it made an obnoxious sound, so I bought it, when I gave it to him for the first time it scared the heck out of him, for 3 days he would walk as far away from it to get past it, now it's his favorite, after 15 to 20 minutes I feel like taking it and putting it up, but it's still funny watching him roll around chewing on it, here's a video

Re: The PET THREAD...

Well my wifes plan is working, I'm only spending about an hour on the couch a day, before the puppy I was spending almost 5 days a week on the couch
Today we took a 2 mile walk in less than an hour, I hope to go farther every couple days
This past weekend he stole the bucket I bought to wash our new car, he shook it back n forth and hit it on my trailer and poked a hole in it, now he has a new chew toy, good thing I only spent a dollar for it

https://youtu.be/-l8h4jbXytY

Hopefully soon I'll have so much energy I can get back to work on my Volksrod

Re: The PET THREAD...

Must be some bucket if that cute pup can poke a hole in your trailer with it. :hmm::wink::grin:

metalmaster1766 August 30th, 2018 06:13 PM

Re: The PET THREAD...

No he poked a hole in the bucket from shaking it back n forth, he just happened to be next to the corner of my trailer, when it hit the trailer it poked a small hole near the bottom of the bucket, it might hold a half an inch of water now, so it's his bucket now, I'll go spend another dollar and get a new one, I just can't leave it anywhere he can get it, but hey, he doesn't chew our shoes, he was biting at mine while walking him, I sat him down and had a talk with him like a person, told him if he continues to bite at my feet while walking him he's either gonna pull me down on top of him or he's gonna become a permenent shoe on my foot when I kick him in the ass, he tilted his head to one side, seemed as if he was listening, but he hasn't tried to get my shoes during our morning walks
I was just walking him up to the corner of the main street we live off of, maybe half a mile, yesterday and this morning we walked 1.9 miles, yesterday we did it in 55 minutes, today we did it in 47 minutes, after a few weeks we'll start doing 4 miles, Then we're gonna see if we can run it, I plan to run a full 26 mile marathon next May even if I hafta crawl to the finish line, something I've wanted to do since I learned about the Boston marathon in the 3rd grade, I ran about 12 miles 4 days a week when I played soccer, but I had to give it up when I got my first job after high school
I'm gonna fulfill that dream no matter what, it's called the Flying Pig Marathon here, Cincinnati was aka Porkapopalis or something like that back in the 1800's because of all the pigs and slaughter houses back then

Re: The PET THREAD...

So it's been a while, been busy, my puppy is almost a year old, these last 8-1/2 months have he has kept me busy, a newborn baby needs less attention
I do get a lot of walking in on decent days, IF I walked 7 days a week I would get 14 miles in minimum, more if the weather permits it, I don't walk in the rain
As far as anything else goes, it's tough, I tried to do some work in my garage, key word "tried" for some reason he loves my pants legs, it all started when we first got him, somebody knocked on our door, I used my leg to keep him from getting out, he grabbed my pants with his mouth and pulled, now he does it whenever we cross a street, I guess it could be a good thing, if I fall down he can pull me out of the way
He's at 60 lbs now, I'm 175, I'm sure he can pull me if I let him, as my grand daughter says "he's cra cra" but he every night he grabs onto my arm an goes to sleeps with his nose in my ear, and he snores, best dang thing that has happened to me, I was starting to become a couch potato
Here's a short video of him from a few days ago, I had a tarp with four 5 lb weights tied to it, he chewed the weights off and plays with them, I'll add more as time goes by, he's sleeping right now, he doesn't like me on my phone so I have very little time for much else

https://youtu.be/Y49OgpYm_OU

Ya'll take care

Ron
