Is that a Dark Eyed White? Nice looking ferret. How old? The bell doesn't always help in the mornings. When Perry stays out over night he sneaks into bed and before we get up (around 2ish in the morning) and tries to destroy anything with legs. It is useful in locating him if he's not sleeping though.

My daughter has been wanting a kitten for years, but before Christmas this year she wrote me a sweet letter asking if we could get her one for Christmas. And so enters an 11 week old orange tabby named Henry. We found Henry on Craigslist, and he was from a rescue organization and was living with a foster family. He is fitting in really well with our two dogs and he has an awesome purr!

Re: The PET THREAD...

I have no idea what kind of ferret he is other then the kind that gets into everything, which I understand is all of them. He didnt start out white he got gradually lighter the older he has gotten. He is 2 now and when ours gets in the bed he likes to bite legs or feet. But I have to say they have the most personality of any animal I have ever owned. I also have a cat but dont have pictures of him because I dont really like him that much, but the wife loves him.

there are no cites. my house is in the homochitto national forest. 4,000 people in the whole county. haven't seen the cat this winter , he comes and goes at will. BC got along with the other pets OK , but any people that he didn't know, my daughter would have to tackle him and drag him back in the house. he was extremely overprotective of her. he would chew up my shoes if i left them out , and it would sound like a club hitting the door when he wanted in. we never did teach him to flush!

Our two latest rescues. Stupid woman had 20 horses and was providing feed for about 10. Never did any training or vet work on them so these guys came in wild as free range mustangs. Oh, yeah- getting them in a trailer for transport the first time was a freakin' rodeo ! Any way, a gal and her husband who do volunteer work for us have been coming over every day for a couple of hours and hanging out, talking to the kids (they are just under a year old) putting out feed, and finally hand feeding them snacks (apples, carrots, horse cookies and the like) and touching them in order to get them used to people . Once they are comfortable with people we can begin training and start the process of findinig them a forever home. We try and document each horse during their stay with us with pictures as part of progress file. I'm guessing these two girls thought the camera was a new kind of treat. Say Cheese !

Here's my brood, all three are rescue puppies. Lady (big blk/wht), Iggy (red) and Isis, the little one who is on our dog sled team; go figure Adopted Isis after I had to have Ojo our first male that I had put down, the absolute hardest day of my life!:crybaby:I cried like a baby. But we rescued her and one thing led to another and over the last four years a bunch have passed through our doors and Lady and Iggy stayed. Gald I don't have room for more or :panic:. Love them all but still can't replace the first one. he was and is still my favorite.

Our 'oldest' kid and our only 'daughter'. The red/white Ol fella is Siegfried von Siegfried aka "Siegie"...he's husky/G.Shep/Gold.Ret....pushing 12years old. He's my wife's rescue puppy(mutt)...super mellow old fellow. The Sable German Shepherd is Umber vom Younghaus aka "Lala"... she's a pure breed from East German bloodlines...ya! She's 2 1/2 years. My 8 and 3 yr. old sons LOVE these 2 and vise versa....kids have crawled and mauled'em and they (dogs & kids) love it.

I grew up with...or as my folks say "I was raised by" German Shepherds.....wouldn't have any other breed!

NOTE: photo credits go to my 8 yr. old son, Nico...(he's getting better at the camera thingy)

Does anyone know how to cure separation anxiety? We have had Shelby for almost 2 weeks now and shes fine when we are home but if we leave she decides its ok to shit and piss in the dining room, no where else. I tried a kennel the other day because people said they will not go to the bathroom where they sleep but she decided to then proceeded to roll around in it so I had to take her out and scrub her down. I am out of ideas and its driving me crazy because I dont want to have a house that smells. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: The PET THREAD...

How old is she? Just a pup or is she an older adopted with a previous bad history with another home?

Pups usually are destructive when they don't have anything to keep them occupied when you're gone (i.e. they get bored).

If that's the case, have many toys available that keep her busy (hollowed out bones with peanut butter stuffed way down in the middle, etc).

Come up with a cue she'll distinquish from all others (a word or gesture) and start with giving her that cue (i.e. *hand up* "Be right back!") and then leaving the room she's in for very short periods of time. After a few moments of her being good and not freaking out, then come back in the room without really acknowledging her at first, then after a couple minutes pet her and spend time with her. Lengthen these times bit by bit. The key is to teach her that you WILL be back. Getting her to understand your "cue" is important. It takes work and a lot of time, but needs to be done.

Leaving some of your dirty clothes out of the hamper with her sometime helps too.

Just remember... they learn much quicker from praise when they do GOOD, than they do from punishment when they screw up (espcecially something they did 3 hours before you got home).

A bully!

I cant wait for the inlaws to get their new bully puppy. I've been told I'm in charge of training this time. The inlaws have never had a dog they could walk without it half pulling their arm off. So I'm going to go all Caesar Milan on it. LOL

Whoot!!! Just sold The last puppy from our litter back in January. FINALLY!!!! In 5 years of breeding yorkies, that's the longest we've had a pup we hadn't intended to keep. We got a call last night from a woman we sold a pup to last asking us to call her when we had the next litter. I though she was gonna cry when we told her we had a female left from our last litter. I was looking forward to sleeping in today too. Oh well with that $1200 in my pocket, I'll get over it!!!

Of course I just had to order two halfshafts and a new tire for my wagon yesterday, so that sucks hlf of it right back out of my pocket!.:yelling:

Re: The PET THREAD...

After five long years we finally got another cat. Her name is Bella (my wife chose it!), she's an absolute blast! Jake loves having a pet, he's talking to her all the time... that is a blessing in itself! I never knew how mesmerizing it could be to simply sit and listen to my child talk endlessly to his cat:grin:. His spoken vocabulary has increased in the last two days more than it has in the last year!

We went touring pet shelters in the area last week. One shelter had a beautiful black lab that I thought he'd love. I called him over, "Jake, do you like this dog?" He walked over, looked at the dog and said, "No, it too big, I want cat." Unfortunately, the adoption fee was $100 () so needless to say we didn't get a cat.

My wife found Bella on craigslist, her owners had to move to a new house where pets were not allowed. When we brought her home she inspected every last space in the house. She even opened the cupboard doors and climbed through a few. At one point I found her in the top of the closet in our room!

Anyone in the Pittsburgh area... My girlfriend does adoptions at the Western Pa. Humaine Society. This weekend is $10 adoptions on all animals. One hell of a deal. They have a ton a great dogs in right now as well as cats and bunnies. If anyone is looking to adopt, this would be a great time. Ask for Lindsay and tell her I sent ya.

I am still petless but but my girl has a few...

This is her little girl Ruby, a 100lb Rotty that thinks she's a lapdog

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2..._7296125_n.jpg

Her 18 year old retarded cat Harley. She has a cerebral disorder that messes with her motor functions so she stumbles and falls over randomly.

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2..._5562741_n.jpg

And Alfredo the killer cat. Literally. Christine aquired Alfredo after he "indirectly" killed his 80 year old owner. He tripped her causing her to break a hip and she died in hospital 3 days later.

Ummmm...... Maybe if you kept the cat away from your PBR, the motor function problem would cure itself.

We have 3 little girls (cats). We love them. One of them is a little older (thinking 10 yrs) and 2 younger ones (like 3 yrs). We NEVER give them people food. Well the older one is always where we are. We were making salads and the wife dropped a piece of lettuce. Before she could pick it up the older cat ate it. Ever since she loves lettuce. We looked it up and its safe for her toeat it. I just think its weird.

Re: The PET THREAD...

some excellent pet pix.

Well my house is a complete cat festival. I breed show/breeder quality Bengals. We have developed a program for socializing and training them that in our opinion elevates them from a pet to a true personal companion of the finest quality. We do not place any of our kittens as breeders or as show animals rather all of our kittens are placed as personal companions.

This is WildExpressions WeeWilly of XFactor. He is a good example of what we produce. He is 8 months old in this picture and weighs 9.5 lbs.
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._7139762_n.jpg

I own/operate a salt water aquarium shop (although we still had fresh water when these pix were taken for you sharper eyed folks) and Bengals have a fascination with water which has been both humorous at times and very irritating at other times.

 sure. I'm like a proud dad so I have tons of pix. I've had a pretty hard go of it the last couple of years what with losing my company, my house and spending two years recovering from my back injury so now that I have rebuilt my life with the aquarium shop and cattery I'm friggin thrilled to share with anyone and everyone:funny:

Here is the best IMO looking kitten
