Default The wife's new 66.

The wife bought this the past weekend. Maybe she got tired over my never ending projects...

The car is kind of a "barnfind" as it have been sitting the past 27 years unregistered in a heated garage. The seller decided to register it this spring without any problem. All he did was replace the front brakehoses, buy new 6V battery and new tires.

Wow, that's nice! You didn't say how much so I'm guessing it doesn't qualify for the score thread. Or maybe it does!

I'd say it's a score as we paid 1800 and got half a -58 with it..

It does look better than it is in the photos. The older gentleman who sold it had some time in the cars life resprayed it very lightly so it has orangepeal on a lot of panels and others (roof etc.) paintdust dried on top of it so it needs a major polishing session...

That looks to be as nice as you can get for a 66. Nice score.

Haha.
I'm doing all the polishing and buffing so I guess I earn some driving time with it...

I will go over the whole body with Polarstar P1500 drysanding, then Abralon 3000. Polish with Polastar rubbing, and finish with Simoniz.

Recieved the vintage style original licenceplates today. Looks way much better IMO with the original plates.

Looks like I will soon get more time so I can start working on this one..

I will have to pull the engine and do a light overhaul as it started smocking too much blue smoke... My guess and hope is that it is the pistonrings that are either broke or stuck as the engine had been sitting for 30 year without any usage...

Also need to replace the remaining brakehoses and tubes as I lost rear brakes on it in August...

While I'm at it I will repaint it in Seesand..

Well, that's the plan for now anyways...

This weekend I will be making 5.5 wide wheels for the rear. Interesting thing is I got home an other pair of the slotted 66-67 wheels this morning and they where different from the ones I have.

First wheel arch finished.

The ones I have are same as the one up and to the right in the picture below. (and all the ones below) And the ones I got this morning are same as the one up to the left. If you check the "rounded star" hole in the center they are slightly different.

(Borrowed the pic from samba)
