Default O/T Photography Thread - for the members post
Re:: automotive, landscape, nature, sports, architecture...

Ok, I see the rollin' shot thread is back at the top and Codeman96 post some great pics. I have a few to show and I know Rob has some too. I bet there are alot more out there so here is the place to post up.

This will be a discussion of all things shutter related. What you shoot, settings, ideas, photoshop technique, questions...

I know we got some pros and amatures so post up. If you have to ask yourself, "self, should I post this?" do it, we will remove the stuff that does not fit

OK, I will go first.

Canon EOS 450D, XSi
Canon 19-55 kit
Sigma 70-300
Canon 1.8 50mm
Canon 10-22

I shoot sports (kickball), car shows and architecture. Like black and white and candid shots.

My better stuff

I just got in my battery grip, generic off ebay but I like it so far. Not sure if I will try for a flash or a tripod next. And I though the "camera" was the expensive part.

Oh, just scored a 1963 Petri 7s for $12. Still has the case. I have not put any film in it yet.

Also interested in getting a Holga camera for fun. Anyone play with one before?

Next...

I have a Nikon Coolpics, got it from my mechanic, it too had a cracked screen. I got a new one off ebay for $23. I removed 6 screws from the camera case and a ribbon cable for the screen, back together in 5 minutes. Or this seller will install it for ya, here is one for ya, $18

Oddly I've started to enjoy doing portraits too. Never saw that coming.

My wife and kids. Took this one last fall. One of my favorite pics I have ever taken.

My fiance is BIG time into film cameras, and I've got a Canon EOS Rebel (mostly used for projects at work...). She's got 30+ cameras - some duplicates.

Grump - get a Holga! If you do make the purchase, get the one with the 4 different color flashes on it. They're pretty sweet!

I've got a halfway decent "Artsy Fartsy" folder (yes, that's what I named it) that has some shots in it, but I wouldn't say anything professional by any means!

I shoot an Olympus E-510 with an assorment of lenses from a 70-300 to a 7-14 wide angle. (will edit with a full list when I am near my camera bag)

I am basically the team photographer for my daughters soccer team, so I typically shoot anywhere from 300-500 images a week.

Anyhoot, here are a few of my faves...

Will post more later!

None of the professional photographers I work with around Dallas could figure out how I did it. Everybody guesses shooting through something glass or plastic, but that's not it.

No timed exposures or anything fancy on an iphone, so no.
No moving the phone.
Not in a dark room.

Single light source is going in the right direction kinda. I'd tell, but I want to see if anybody else has a theory/guess.

I am picturing lights/glow sticks/flashlights/etc attatched to the blades of a ceiling fan.

Since you like that kinds stuff, riddle me this one. I assume some type of "stitch" program, maybe a tripod, but past that I am clueless.

i'm new to the digital age. currently using a cannon rebel xs with a stock lens

still playing, still learning, this is by far my most favorite pic:

just playing around with the camera like the first week i got it:

i've got some fresh cemetary ones i've yet to host that are real good, here's some others i've done

i still have a lot to learn, i'm not happy with the saturation and contrast of the pics i have now, that and they seem to dark, the meter reads a bit lighter than it really is because the lens has a scratch protective coating that tricks the camera. my goal is to get the contrasty pics like the one rob took of the mirror on the beetle. i've heard of programs (pshop included) that can help with that, but my idea is, if you can't do it with the camera it's not worth doing.

Why do you have to "put your two cents in,"
but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"?
Where's that extra penny going to?

Just remember saying I'm sorry and appologizing are the same thing.

wobble, looks like something I got long ago with straw on my 35mm, but you said others have guessed the glass or plastic thing...what about a metal tube?

Winner! It's a chrome tube, shiney on the inside, about 1" diameter or so. It's the bar to the towel holder in my kids bathroom. They threw wet towels on it and ripped it from the wall. There it stayed for a couple of days then my 7yo daughter brought it to me and said, "whoa dad, look at this" as she was looking through it.

my theory is that it's a similar effect to 2 mirrors facing each other sorta. I'm guessing the light coming in at 45* angles bounces back and forth in an X-pattern as it travels down the tube, and getting weaker as it goes.

the 3rd and 4th ones, the tip of my finger was covering some of the hole at the end, letting in a crescent shape of light.

Here is a couple of my favorites . No VW related stuff yet, there isn't much around here.

Sorry, had to throw the last one in of my daily driver.

BTW Grumpy, those round photos are done with multiple images stitched together in Photoshop. Never done it myself but I read a tutorial one time.
