Default RickIntihar from Ohio

Hi everyone. My name is Rick and i'm from Chardon, Ohio.

My only hobby is cars, so I that's where all my earnings go. I have had close to probably 50 cars over the past 8-10 years, and my background of vehicles is pretty diverse. 3 MINIs, '69 Six Pack Roadrunner, '67 GTO, '05 GTO, '73 Karmann Ghia, 4 Fieros, a couple 'Vettes, FWD Turbododges, a caged Civic hatch, '73 Mach 1, mint '77 Impala...I could go on, but I wont, lol. I dont have a brand loyalty, I just buy what I like.

My current project is a '72 super that i'm just trying something different with. I wanted a car where I could test my metal fabrication skill. So the plan is to cut off the roof of my bug and weld up the doors to make a sort of 4 seater roadster. The car was pretty solid for an Ohio car. Leaks oil like a sieve, but it runs and drives very nicely.

Here are a few pictures of the car up to where I am currently.

I'm waiting for a few patch panels before I weld the doors up permanently.

So thats where we're at. Thanks for looking!

And since we're on the topic of projects, here is my commuter bike.

'09 Honda Metropolitan. Originally a 49cc scooter, I purchased a 150cc chinese knock off scooter and with only 200 miles on my brand new scooter, I cut it to pieces.

Ive since took the cargo carrier off since it really didn't allow me to carry shit, haha. Does about 60mph with my tubby ass on it.

Did more trimming. Going to start closing off and reshaping the top of the body once the doors are closer to being welded up. Doing the shaping on the door tops now.

A little progress from where I last left off. Just working on getting everything ready to install the new tubular heater channel replacements.

Wow, totally forgot to update. Bought my father's '65 Beetle for my daily driver to replace the GTO once it sells. Been spending more money on that than my roadster lately getting it reliable and fixing small things. Heres a pic of the '65.

Here's the roadster. Just got it back on the ground. The rockers I made are incredibly strong. I thought I NEEDED to have the doors welded shut but it is rigid enough without it. Still going to weld them shut though. More progress soon.

A little more progress today. Stopped by my local VW parts house and picked up a louver-less front apron. Fits pretty nice, the hood is a little tweaked though. Also got one of the inner fenderwells installed. Gotta cut the other one still. Lots of little patch up metal work left to do, all the big stuff is taken care of.

Still waiting on my damn fenders and dash. Glass-Action is taking a LONG time. Almost two months now.

Fenders, running boards and dash came in today, finally. Got two of the fenders on, need to clean off the dash and drop the column tomorrow to get the dash mocked up. I want to wait till my sheet metal is all finished before I mount up the running boards.
