Dayzwalker finally busted me out for lurking around the forum stealing other people's ideas for about the last month or so since I found this place, so I guess I'm obligated to file the intro now.

My first car was a '71 Standard, but I didn't have the time, money, or space in my parents driveway to do too much to it. I had lots of plans and sketches, but not the scratch, tools or know-how to make it happen. I had plans to chop it and put on tree bars, remove the decklid, put on a super aggro exhaust...all of that jazz...but things started to break faster than I could fix them, so I had to sell it.

Anyhow, I'm just now starting to get the kind of money and free time I will require to make a car I can be happy with, so that's why I've been spending so much of my time here. My plan is to start out with a '69 that needs "TLC" but runs, and waste all of my free time and money on it. Ideally I'd like to find one with stock tires and wheels, thrashed interior, major rust free (as in holes in metal) body, and haggard old paint. If I could find one that fit these criteria, I could avoid wasting money initially on paint, wheels, headliners, seats, and crap that I won't be retaining anyhow. My plan is to start work body work first, get the engine up to snuff, and then start to build the engine up later. That might make some people cringe, but I enjoy the body mod aspect of it quite a bit more. If anyone who reads this is from the Oklahoma City area, drop me a line, once I start getting things started, I'll probably need a support group for when I bite off more than I can chew. If I know me, that's exactly what I'll do. Anyhow, if anybody has any inputs on where to find a '69 close to how I described above in the OKC area or within a couple of hours drive, drop me a line. If anyone has any input on using a '69 as a base to begin with, drop me a line. If anyone has actually read this entire profile, drop me a line. Whew...now I can go back to lurking, where is this post you were talking about Dayz? I can't find it using the "Search" function.

I recieved a fair amount of heckling after my posts looking for a '69-'71 with straight body and minimal rust, however, I'm inching ever closer to square one. When I get back to OKC, I've got about 5 or 6 prospects lined up (finally). My truck is paid off and it's all expendable income now. Even on a gov't wage that isn't half bad. So I'll soon have something to fill up my empty ass garage. If any of you guys are from the Oklahoma City area, drop me a line.

Ok, we'll try this again...hopefully when I get home THIS time, I'll be dragging a '69 home before I go on leave. Hoping to flat tow from Dallas back to OKC, don't really see any other reasonable way. So the Nissan will have to "man up" and pull her home. I have some pics, but I see no sense in posting pictures of a stock '69...I'm fairly sure everybody has seen one. Pics will follow once I start hacking it up.

So I never should have tried to post an update before I got home with my car...sue me. Ended up with a '69 with the Wunderbug kit. I have a four day weekend, so the project starts as soon as I get off of work tonight...will take pics periodically and let everybody have a look. Hopefully I won't start a "how not to..." section, but I never underestimate myself.

So the latest plan on the project is to go topless, and shorten the body a foot or so. Started to dismantle the whole kit and kaboodle 2 nights ago and no surprises yet, I'll get up pictures as soon as I buy a camera.

Someone made reference to Vehicular ADD, and that is the problem I'm running into...for real. I have the '69 in the garage, and am trying to get myself a Berry Mini-T to drop on top of it. If the Mini-T comes on a pan, then I'll have to get rid of it, OR cut up the '69...what a mess. At any rate, hopefully I get some real, true direction here sometime soon, or I'll just have two bodies to swap on one pan. Maybe I'll just Dzus fasten everything so I can swap on a weekly basis.
