Default Frustrated

How do you all get by the frustration of part after parts not working, and car just keeps sitting in the garage. I have replaced part after part and car is still sitting, Got new carb last week, it leaked at the bushing on the accelerator rod. Had to send it back, now wait for another. Everything on the engine is new now except the dizzy. Hope that don't go wrong next.

You never get by it. Just keep going. If not, sell your car to a Vrodder! Thats how I got most of mine anyway.... Its just a car, you are smarter!

I do it for a living so people pay me to become frustrated.

I never drank beer until I started to build Da Bastard (thats the truth). I swore ALOT! Never throw anything (because I was to lazy to go get what ever I throw). But swearing and yelling helped me! Have you tried swearing? It does help!!

But really keep the image of the finished product in your head. I knew from day one what I wanted and just keep working towards that image. And swear alot!

Im not a thrower either, my bro did that when we were younger working on a 66 we had and remember ducking wrenches. But I do swear alot. I do have a picture of what I want in my head to. Kinda want mine to look like the one in the volksrod logo at the top of the screen except with military tires 700x15.

Just remember that picture when you get frustrated. And there is no rush, take your time and do it right!

Just liqour eh? Amen to the rest of what he said, and bag label everything! If I could go back and smack my 16 year old self and tell him 1 thing that would be it... that and keep it in your pants!

Keep everything everyone here has said in mind!!!! Also I would PM john jaranson --jaransonT3, is his user name.... And spend the money to get him to do a concept of your car.....The man is good and did my concept...many is the times I looked at what he did and kept me motivated...

Why do you keep working on a puzzle, relationship, game, or whatever? The satisfication of completing a task is always awesome.

Although, at this point, I'm in your same boat, almost exactly. For me, I keep throwing too little knowledge and too many parts at a continuing problem. I just want to drive it, and it seems like it'll never happen...totally frustrating!

But we're in it for the game, right? If we weren't, we'd have sold them by now.

If you haven't done so already, take the time to actually write down a checklist of what you need to do to get to your concept. don't leave that list in your head, believe me it helps to have something to stare at occasionally..

Next, take the bigger tasks and break them down to smaller ones.

When the shit stops working properly, take a step back and breath for a minute. I'm a smoker so when I get really frustrated, I have a cigarette and just stare at the problem and try and let my mind wander the possibilities of what's going wrong.

I know your pain.. my VR got parked January 2008 with a cracked head, sinple fix right? well, to date I've been at sea for a year total, and in the time I've been home, i've got a new set of heads, installed em and now have a crazy issue with my timing/carb syncing. but I know i'll get it worked out if i just give myself the time to do it :)

Sometimes even doing something else for a weekend or two can help, let your brain forget the way you "know must be the way" and see what kind of other solutions you come up with.

hope something up there helps!

My frustration is not with the car itself, its getting the parts. Everytime I get things lined out to buy the parts, something comes up that it has to be spent on. My problem is that life gets in the way.........

Wouldn`t be great (in a perfect world) to have ALL the parts and materials that will be needed sitting over in a corer, at the begining of a build?? (has it EVER happened?)

haha, I still know your pain :P

I have a case, some heads, some carbs, and a crankshaft at home waiting for me to buy the rest of the parts, but everytime i plan it out, i decide i want to upgrade something and then something else, etc... at this point maybe i'll have enough parts to make a motor in a couple of years :P
