At long last, I made a little bit of progress on Little Bug (and by little I mean very little.)

First, I decided to move it to the garage for the winter, instead of the back porch. The creature lurking in its lair:

Since %#$@& Wyotech made me cut the bracing out before I brought the project home, I had rig something just for a little piece of mind. This is what I came up with:

Ratchet straps run front to rear to ensure the door latches are aligned, and heavy-duty bungee cords run side to side to keep the doors shut. It's not ideal for sure, but it's better than nuttin'!

Then, I made a neat and tidy bolt-in brace for the trunk area...

...And hacked the nose off:

I'll actually be removing more from the nose, but this was a start. Also, it allows me to get the garage door shut!!

With the apron and such out of the way, I wanted a rough idea of what the decklid and axle would look like:

The axle I believe is from '37 Ford and I picked it up at a swap meet for $50. I haven't decided whether its worth the extra effort to get rid of those awful homemade spring mounts or not.
Also in this shot, it's easy to see why I'm so pissed about the bracing issue: The floor of the garage is not in very good shape, and it's difficult to keep a body properly supported! The concrete was poured in the late 60's by some very drunk relatives of mine, and they didn't use any reinforcements whatsoever.
