A box of those "magic berries" that alter your taste perception and make bitter or sour foods taste delicious. You don't swallow them, just chew well and spit out the husks. Then eat something like a sour pickle or radish or the like. They taste like bananas or sweet apples or fruit of some sort and quite delicious. I had an idea that since these grow wild and are easy to cultivate, and quite possibly the main ingredient might be synthesized, they would be a wonderful solution to some of the terrible starvation taking place in the world. A protein powder made from freeze dried insects or insect pupa, flavored with these berries and mixed with water and powdered milk would provide a good tasting and extremely nutritious stew or porridge or filling and feed a lot of people. Formed into cakes and baked as protein bars, fried in flavored oils, sliced into thin chips, etc.

You could eat almost anything with a food value, regardless of the original taste, and have it be delicious. Caterpillars become beef jerky, insect grubs are banana nuggets, an undersized poor crop of potatoes are spiced apples, etc.

Maybe . . . ?

Just a thought.

I'm gonna eat anything and everything that I can find over the next few weeks and see what it tastes like after chewing on one of these berries first. Let you know, later.
Do they have one that makes things taste like chicken?
