Thumbs up Re: another model car thread

Outdamnstanding stuff!

Threads like this remind me of why I started building models lo' those many moons ago.

They also remind me of why I quit building them about 10 years ago...

Of course having no "me" room anymore (wife, 2 kids and 5 cats) contributed, along with a serious lack of time, talent and patience. Perhaps in a couple of years when the youngest is gone and I can claim a room for "me" again I'll get back into it.

Of course I'll have to work on the time, talent and patience thing....

BTW, check Hobby Lobby as well. They used to have a clearance section and every so often I could get screaming deals that I would flip on fleabay when I needed some extra jack for a project.

was much fun!
I bought a set of 4 Hebs last year. I have two of them on display already. Well, I gave one of them to Frans, my son to have in his room. I

I got inspired by Carlene's post so now I decided to do something to one of the others.

First of all I'm a bit disappointed over the bodyshapes... The front apron is WAY too low under the front hood...

Makes it almost look like a fatchick...

Here's a couple pics of some vans I've had for years. Dan has a case of new ones for sale...made me remember I had these in the closet.
Baja Beast I've had for 20+ years.

another Baja Beast I started 15 years ago...it's the re-issue from 94 or so?

This was a FireBomb I bought from Jerry & Melissa jess about 20+ years ago. It was new in the box but I just had to build it.

Just back from a long weekend in Berlin. We went into the KaDeWe department store and I got me a chopped/dropped volks custom. I also found these on the shelves. Please 'scuse the cellphone quality (or lack of) ...

I'll get some photos of mine when I can find a camera.

Some of my works in progress

Started with the ugly Pink 1:24 Cal Look kit, the one with the flared fenders.
Stock windshield was layed back. The roof and most of the deck lid are from a '40 Ford Sedan.
The Black side window frames are from a snap together Lead Sled kit. The white is scratch built, needs some more sanding and filler. Will have a flipped beam, Bigs and Littles.

My old man sent this link to me. The cars and dioramas are awesome!! Oh, my dad had a new '59 chevy convertable like the one in the diorama back in the day. He wishes he still had it. Can you say "worth BIG bucks now"?

Bringin this one back.

Ive been working on 2 models for the past couple days and here is the progress.

The first one is gonna be a "pro Street" style shoebox but done with all 50s & 60s speed parts and accessories. So far I channeled it severely, painted it Wimbelton White and weathered it.

The second one is a bubble top 62 Vette that I grafted a 59 Vette front end to and extended the side indents with round styrene. Still lots of body work to go on this one.

Cool.

So is that your mock up motor?

My son has been building his first motor at the dining room table. It is a Smithsonian model kit that is a working 4 cylinder engine. The cam shaft was the most difficult part as you have to place each lobe on it in the correct orientation according to a crappy pic similar to most EMPI parts instructions...

Other than that it has been his show and I am there to help.
