Damn that's nice, almost makes me wanna cut up my 66 V8 build once I'm able to get back to work on it
The only reason I'm keeping the body on mine totally stock is to fuck with all the Mustang, Camaro, & Corvette guys at the race track om Friday nights, it's not gonna be a competitive race car, just something to have fun in like my wife & I did back before we had kids
At the rate I'm going I might finish it in the next decade, what stopped me was my welder broke when I was getting ready to fab up the firewall, I was gonna build my own headers from a few old sets I had cut up, my welder broke, then I got my Volksrod & have been wrenching on it weekly just to keep it running

Again, I love it

It's the final product at this point. I made the hood fit and none of us liked it, it looks a lot better with it off. We are in the beginning stages of building a second car chopped the same but with LS power train and A/C it should be interesting!

Because of your build im working on my vw again. I want to finish it so i can build a car like this one. Its so sexy...

Those LS engines are beasts. You thinking aluminum 5.3 for less weight or just going iron block? Amazing how cheap these engines are from the junk yard. Guys are going from junk yard to 700hp really cheap.

Nice, I so like your Bug, almost wish I had built a tube frame for mine, but I took the cheaper route, super low budget, so far the only thing I bought was the 2 by 4 steel for the rear frame rails, a grand total of $90

I'd still like to put the 455 Olds engine from my 12 second 74 Cutlass in my V8 Bug, but when I set it in, the suspension dropped to the ground, I don't have the $$ to beef up the suspension & most likely won't unless I win the Lotto, that's why I put the small block Ford from my wife's 11.9 second Mustang up front, I hope to get the headers & fire wall finished this winter (just don't hold me to it), then it's just rebuilding the engine & trans & finish welding the chassis, gonna make it appear to be a stock Bug except for the 3 inch potato shooters out the back rather than pea shooters, now that our kids are grown we wanna get back into racing for the fun of it, nothing competitive, to expensive, we spent almost every Friday night at the race track before we had kids, then back in 07 our oldest son asked us to come watch him race his wind up toy Honda, after seeing a couple late 60's & early 70's muscle cars running 10 seconds, we both looked at each other & said simultaneously "we need another 1/4 mile car" few months later I pushed my 66 Bug in the garage & went to work, then when I got the Volksrod, I have been spending every other day trying to keep it running, it should be good to go by tomorrow afternoon, then I can get back to work on the "FUN" car

Here is the build thread

http://www.volksrods.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17593

The car has had many many changes along the way, at first it was to get me a running car ASAP, then that changed, but it's gonna be a driver, drive it to the race track, race it a few times every Friday, then drive it home, that's how we did it until she got pregnant, now we're ready to play & go fast, she's the one who thought of the BitchN Bug name, she has a reaction time of about 0.02 of a second, mine is almost 1.5 seconds, she has long blonde hair past her ass, tuck it up under her helmet, everybody will wonder what BitchN Bug means, then when she dusts the Camaro, Mustang, & possibly a few Corvettes & in the pits she pulls of her helmet, they'll know exactly why it's called the BitchN Bug, cause there's a crazy ass woman who loves to drive fast in side

Sorry for hi-jacking & going on so long, but when you spend 5 days a week home alone talking to yourself, I tend to ramble on when I get a chance, I do have 2 really good friends who have helped me get my machine shop machines for just helping them when I have the chance, but they work all the time, when I get the chance I always help them out, works out nice for all 3 of us

Ron
