My dad just showed me a fan he has in the basement. I would have taken it but we are seriously dumping stuff over here. We just threw out/ donated a huge vintage desk from the Kodak building in Chicago, all of our VHS tape collection and audio cassettes, ditching my old 8mm digital camera, small telescope and simply getting rid of what we don't need. I'm surprised my wife hasn't put me out on the street corner with a big FREE sign around my neck!
If anyone here is interested in my speedster, go-kart or Spatz dune buggy, drop me an e-mail; I'm open to reasonable offers.

I'm guessing that your wife didn't put a FREE sign around you neck because, drum roll please, she thought it would be asking too much.

Interesting. Maybe that's the reason why my wife doesn't worry about me.

Eh, my wife is very frugal. She's only made 2 mistakes in the 18 years we've been together: She agreed to marry me and she said I do.

On a slightly different and more sticking-to-the-SteamPunk-topic note, since SP is more than just hanging copper and gears on stuff, does anyone need a collection of gears and several rolls of Scotch tape?

There are a few steampunk sites out there where you could make coin off of the gears.

I don't have but one thing of scotch tape, but I could use more

I do however have a bunch of gears, almost enough to make a full set of change gears for an old lathe, I took them before they went to the scrap yard, my friend said if I wanted them to take them before they got scraped, so I took them
that's how I ended up with so much stuff, a lot of it was a package deal, Hey Ron, you want that 4 jaw chuck? Sure I'd say, well you hafta take everything in that big metal box with it

Hanging out at a scrapyard has it's perks, but it also has it's down falls, I'm paying for it now, I had much more energy & strebgth when I got it all, now it takes me months to fill my trailer, I haven't been able to take it to the scrap yard because my Evill VolksRod still doesn't have reverse in it

Hello guys! I'm back from the dead!

I know some of you may have noticed me disappearing. Yeah life hit me in the face like a shovel. I worked a shitty job, got depressed, was worked so hard with stupid hours knocked by my employer for my speech impediment during my evaluation.

They told me to try harder for next year. Guess what! You're lucky to have three fucking days! I thought to myself with a false smile on my face. Three days latter I passed a weld test and tomorrow I am going into my new welding job.

So why I am posting that here? Because of a new project I got going! I am making a steampunk motorbike! sadly its not going to be steam powered, but I did come across something awesome!

1930's brigs WM? Anybody? Yupe with a kick start! Going on what? My 1950's firestone I ran into a telephone post while riding behind my fiancee... I may have been distracted. Bent that 1950's fork REAL good. Surprised my head wasn't sticking out of the other side.

Got the first part of the build in the mail and installed! (Yes it is leaning against my 600$ daily driver. A lot has changed in my life!)

I also got some whizzer replica wheels with drum brakes coming in the mail. So this project is coming up strong.

That's going to be the headlight. Or maybe even the tailight if I win an ebay auction for an even older light!

Hey, great to have you back! That engine and bike look really cool. And congrats on your welding job. Just proves that you can't keep a good man down.

Yeah. Life is better now. It was hilarious I put in a two week notice they called me the next day telling me to not bother showing up the next day. Sign the paperwork you're done! Basically they thought literally nothing of me so me getting this job really showed them up. Good news my weld test impressed two master welders. So I'm going to be learning from some awesome people. we're making massive industrial tables for laser grid assembles. They're made here then sent to Germany for powder coating and then their final home is China.

I always wanted to make a whizzer style bike. Issue is an old one costs 2k plus and a new replica costs the same about. So I figured I'd go the farm kid route and build my own. That front fork is a 1977 moped fork. I have a 1969 bicycle internal 3 speed hub that is going to be used as a transmission in the build. I've been putting a lot of thought into it.

Thought you guys might like to see the progress on the bike. I got the wheels installed. I'm going to have to stretch the frame a bit, but these wheels have drum brakes front and rear.
I'm shooting for 55 to 60 mph

I wonder if it'd be okay to post a build thread here. I miss the advice of you loonies.
Nvm I can't post photos hmm wtf!

Yeah for some reason it wasn't loading! Here I'll post a link to my build thread on RatRodBikes. Hopefully I will be able to enter the build off there.

Hey Doc, I checked out the build on the 'bike' site and she's looking good. Just keep at it and you'll be sending 'selfies' of you, and your lady in the sidehack by summer.

With gas prices going up, that's gonna be the plan. I just scored some awesome fenders and industrial looking fender skirts for it!
