Driveshaft is installed. Fit very well.

Also got a set of headers for a very good price that I had ordered a while back. They do give me more clearance around the master cylinder, so no insulating wrap needed, but I really like the look of the roadster headers

For comparison

Started fitting the driveshaft tunnel, checking bench seat clearance. Had to air hammer off some left over spot welded floor.

Also cut out a large rust hole and welded in a new panel.

Pulled the bug body off today to clean up a few things

Ran a tap thru all the body mount threads

Applied a thick bead of silicone and bolted down the body.

Next, re-install the doors to make sure the the body is square prior to building a roll cage for it.

Doing the rust repairs on the doors before bolting them back on. The passenger side was not too bad, but the drivers will need new metal at the bottom. I used something called Strong Steel Stik from LPS to patch the better door as well as some pin holes around the side rear windows. I decided to try the product due to the fact the the previous owner had filled every opening in the sheet metal with expanding spray foam. This was the main reason for getting the body sand blasted, but unfortunately, some of the foam remains. So in these areas, to avoid starting a fire or creating toxic fumes, I am filling in with steel stik, instead of welding.

Seems to work well. The large patch at the rear can be welded in.

I will need to make up a patch panel for this area as well as the supporting metal underneath.

Started on the inner door replacement sheet metal. Cut out the old and shaped a new piece with a piece of threaded rod and flat stock

The old piece as a template, the new metal and threaded rod

Shaping the new metal

Making the shape more square like the original

Rust repairs on both doors are complete. Re-installed them this morning

Prior to removing the doors, I drilled a small hole thru the hinges, the body and the backing plates to make re-assembly and alignment easier. It worked very well, I was able to re-install the doors by myself with the help of a floor jack and a couple of drill bits. I tightened them down and they shut properly on the first try!

Also made a two hour round trip to my nearest Harbor Freight to save $200 in shipping costs on 444 lbs of Tool Boxes. Two 5 ft tall rollaways in a Scion xB

It's amazing how much you can cram into an xB isn't it? I've done similar stuff and didn't have to destroy the interior to do it either. ( We used to have 2 2012 xB's)

Todays load in the xB includes the complete front and rear suspension, brakes, front and rear subframes along with 4 wheels and tires and a mini spare for a 93 Miata. Also a full sized floor jack and 4 jack stands

I lined the inside with cardboard and stuffed suspension in all the way to the glove compartment.

At one point I had air suspension on the xB and carried a mountain of ceramic tile in it.
Interesting loads also include two full size water heaters
A full size refrigerator. Had to fold both front seat backs all the way down and use the frig box as the seat back.
A wrecked Honda CBR600 Sportbike. The hatch was 2 inches from closing.

And That was with the little xB... Shoot mine was the larger version... I suspect a tiny bit more room in the 2012 than your first gen Box... But Still they are capable little mchaines no doubt. The later models have a much stronger engine too. (Camry 2.4 engine If I remember right)

Finished up all the new brake and clutch lines and bled both systems. Used insulation around the lines that are near the headers.
