So yesterday late in the afternoon, or early in the evening (it depends on you life's scheduled I suppose) I get a call from my doctor's office, they told me to visit the Vampire's office to have some blood drawn & to leave a cup of urine for testing (that sure is a piss poor job)

So this morning after I leave the Vampires I stopped down the street to visit my mom's cousin & all his Hot Rod friend's who gather at McDonald's everyday Monday thru Friday religiously, Tom (my mom's cousin) asks me if I can do a job for him, he just installed his 427 back into his 57 Chevy, more on that job later, anyway he had his cars rearranged in his garage, so I got a few pics of his 57 & the engine, then he reminded me about a 51 Chevy he was doing some body work on for a friend, somehow the deck lid got damaged, this part of his garage (body work & paint shop) isn't very big, but I tried to get a few pics of it, he couldn't find the hood latch, but I'll take his word that it is super nice, this car has Monte Carlo tail lights (I forgot the year already) it also has a later Chevy dash in it ( I also forgot the year, but I know someone will recognize it) you can see the spot on the deck lid that is almost finished, he'll redo it over & over until he's happy with it, he's a perfectionist when it comes to body & paint work
So here are a few pics of the 51 as well as his 57 & the newly rebuilt engine, I also got a few pics of his 57 back in the early 70's when he raced it

I hope to see more of the 51 next time I'm over there

Here's his 57 & the freshly rebuilt 427 & a pic of him launching it down the track, BTW, if I haven't mentioned it, he painted that car back in 1969, still looks flawless except for the dust on it

The valve cover bolts, the long T topped ones he wants to go thru some plastic plug wire holders (the red things in the pic below), the plastic holders have a taper in them so they come out of the mold easier, he wanted me to turn the ends of the bolts down, but I think I'm just gonna run a hand reamer thru the holes to get the taper out so the screws fit all the way in, if that doesn't work I'll just turn a few thousands off the diameter so they fit all the way in

So that was my exciting morning, I always like going to see what he's up to, he will be 75 sometime this year, it just goes to show what my grandma always did, "You never slow down, you never grow old" my grandma & his mom were sisters, if my grandma wouldn't have broken her hip she'd still be busy doing something, her mind is slowly going now that she can't get up & be as active as she once was, but hey, at 102-1/2 years old, your mind is aloud to slip a little

So one day last week I stopped by my friends tattoo shop, I was just walking along to get into my car when I seen these 2 cool cars sitting near by

The truck is the one the guy was sticking money into while he stored his Bug at my place, he works at the tatto shop, I didn't even ask him about the Bug, but the truck is in purty good condition

Yeah that super nice Volksrod is mine, the jug of ice Tea gave it away didn't it, it's in need of body work now, after 4 years of driving it it's starting to rust, I suppose when I do it I'll put a real coat of paint on it to keep the rust from coming back, I'd hate to have the floor pans & heater channels to rust out again, I guess that flat black rustoleum paint isn't the best at sealing water out or possibly putting some clear coat on it

Almost forgot about this one, my wife asked me to stop at McDonald's to get her something to eat the other day, as I was pulling in I see this funky little Jeep Rat Rod next door at Goodyear, I couldn't resist not taking a closer look, I walked over & snapped a few pics of it
It looks like it was built on a 1st generation S10 chassis, I couldn't tell what it was powered by except it was a 4 cyl,
Anyway I thought it was a cool lil

That is cool

Dang I wish I hadn't scrapped all my front suspension parts, I should have kept at least enough for one front end, if I would have I could a built something similar to that

My June '18 issue of Hot Rod just arrived. Starting on page 34 is an article titled THUNDER BUNNY about a very cool looking home built '84 VW GTI sporting a modified LS 6.0 V8. Check it out.

Well, I read the whole article and the VW isn't totally home built, but still a cool ride.

Gotcha. I can see it in the background of one of the other photos. Looks like a 'hump' on each front fender to clear a really narrow tire. Looks like a nice variety of bugs.

I didnt take a pic of a 40 or so red Buick that I saw in Chrome and Flames magazine back in the 1990 or so. Was a four door. Now a chopped and antwo door. Crazy build.
