Default Did My Good Deed for The DAY

Went out for my morning coffee club, stoped by my mom's house, actually my house. ran a few errands early in the morning before the heat hit.

On the highway back to town I see a GMC truck dead right around a turn, blocking half a lane of traffic and the entrance ramp or at least half of it. the trucks driver was sitting ......and sitting... , just waiting to get nailed by traffic on the highway and the entrance ramp.

turned around, motioned to the driver, pulled over to help get this guy out of harms way at least.

He happened to be someone I know from town, explained he bought the truck a few days ago because his Jeep was totaled last week.

First of all, here this guy is a little slow, realy slow,no one tried to help this guy, in fact he was sitting there over an hour when the truck quite on him, blocking the highway.

I always carry a JUMPIT and at least an air tank.

I went over and said we have to get you off the highway, Now this is going uphill from a mountain, now way to push this truck, All and all very simple, back down the highway and get on the shoulder, his reply was " i can't the engine died.", so I turned the wheel and told him and asked him to just watch out for traffic,(stay on the side of the road). here's this guy in the middele of 2 lanes, not a good idea, finally, got the truck ont he side,an unmarked state trooper asked if we we needed help.

Made a few phone the owner did, asked me to get on the phone with the towing company disptach.........did not know the zip coed or the spelling of his home town that he lived all his life, sad when people are sitting ducks, and really out of no fault of their own, them become targets for anyone and everyone.
He is a good guy, just not typically normal. People like that need help to survive, simply put they have no idea waht to do if someting goes wrong..

So anyhow I was like 1 1/2 hours late to get back to Cheryl's house.

Her response was " YOU REALLY HAD A LONG LONG THREAPY SESSION "

Nice to see someone go out of their way for another person, especially almost a complete stranger. We need more people like you to do the "Right" thing...

You , sir, deserve the good guy of the month award. And in fact knowing that you did the right thing while so many others just drove on by truely was a session of therapy for the soul.

Nice man!
I had something similar happen except I was
on the other end. Ran out of gas in the 67 bug
about 2 miles from home with the
two boys in the back ( 5 and 6)
Started to hoof it with boys in tow when a Def couple pulled over and offered me and the boys a ride. His wife even sat in the back with the two dogs they had.
He was able to relay to me that they had a 66 bug that he wished he had never sold.
Super nice couple that barely had anything but was willing to take a guy and his kids home when about 15 other people passed us by.
Something I will never forget and hope I run into someone that I can return the favor to and Pass it on.

Hats of to you - I,m sure the guy will never forget.

Well done! Too many people nowadays just go on by...not my problem they say to themselves. THose are also the ones that buy the extended warranties on things and don't know how to do anything.

That is OK though. There are plenty of the old-timers around (even the young ones that are old-timers in training). These are the guys on this forum that still know how to do things by hand and know the good feeling of helping someone in need, how good it feels to have sweat on your brow from a good day of hard work, the value of a dollar earned....

So Good for you!!!! The last time I helped a lady with some gas, she was taken aback at first by my appearance (I don't look like the helper type). By the end of it though, she was very grateful and even jokingly told me that she had almost dialed 911 when I stopped to help her. My kids and I laughed about that one for a few days.

Hats off to you. We had someone stop, here in St. Louis, to help a stranded motorist some time ago. Didn't have such a happy ending. "Stranded" motorist waited until good samaritan stopped and got out of his car. "Stranded" motorist shot good samaritan point blank in the head (killing him) and then stole his car.

It s a good thing you have done. The world would be a much better place if we all helped others.
