Your ‘Bug’s looking good! Goes to show how keeping at it is a good thing. At times sort of keeps us out of trouble too.

Wow, the body’s back on. You don’t play!
Are you going to chop the roof?

That's the plan, as soon as I get the garage straightened up, tools all put away, I've found so many sockets & wrenches that have been missing, most of them were on the compressor from when I took it apart, that was almost 3 years ago

Don’t forget to check with wraithblade if you get stumped on the chop. Fenderless bugs have a lot of freedom when chopping. Just remember on the 1/4 window. Just because the two panels line up, doesn’t mean your finished. I’ve seen so many chops that the guy should have spent one more day on those window shapes. Sorry, just a pet peeve of mine. I vw I’ll be chopping my 56 in the semi near future.

I've had a long time to think about this, I've also looked at a lot of chopped Bugs, I get the rear quarter window, That's probably the 1 place I'll take my time on, I probably should call wraithblade as well since he's done it

I did get my compressor back together, I just need to run a permanent power line to it, I just hooked it up to make sure it works, I only ran it for about 5 minutes, it filled up the tank to 150psi then I turned it off, I need to see if it shuts off when I can sit and watch the gauge, it was to cold and then it started snowing

Back in the ‘70s a buddy decided to chop the top on his ‘Cal Look ‘62 bug. He wasn’t really into body work, but could weld and such, so pretty soon had the top off and ran into a problem, or six. After a while he decided to turn his bug into a ‘roadster with a lift off Carson top. He did do a nice job chopping the windshield about 2”, but because it was Summer the tacked together frame for the top sat in the corner of his garage. He was dating a really pretty girl and one weekend they drove over to the coast about a half hour away for a nice dinner. As they were leaving the parking lot to head home when it clouded over and started to rain. The girl turned to him and asked, “Are you going to pull over and put the top up?” It didn’t go well after that.

Funny story, my wife wouldn't mind getting wet, heck she rode around in one of my Bugs that it snowed inside, she loved the mud to, none of the other women wanted to go riding in the mud, and if they did come with us they realized real fast they didn't like it at all

I like that chop, I've thought about doing mine similar, I have a 2nd roof I can use as well as door frames and 1/4 window frames, it's all from the 56 Baja I had
I was thinking about leaving the roof 1 piece but I don't wanna pie cut the pillars, so I will widen the roof, I'll decide before I make my 1st cut, thinking the beginning of March I'll star cutting it up
