I'm in slow motion with this project. Three steps forward and ten back. Playing around with ride height. Poor subject. First figure our what tire diameters you are going to use . Not fun .. Looking at every tires companies tire specs made me dizzy . Came up with 24" dia in the front and 26" Dia in the rear. Right away had a problem ... the nasty word "clearance"! All about 4" from the oil pan. Not good! So I had to the front cross beam and lower it,which raised the frame height. Now I have 6" clearance from the oil pan and ground. I'll still get a bit more forward rake from the rear tires. I'm going to close off the rear wheels wells to give it the Lo-boy look. The porsche swing arm will stick the 11" wide tires out there. Hoping to have frame completed by June. The real fun will be finishing the body.

You might want to re-think those tire sizes. Those are pretty small tires for a hot rod.

Life has been a real bitch lately. My Pop just had open heart surgery and then we found out he also has cancer. The heart surgery was a walk in the park compared to what's next for him. The project has slowed almost to a stop with everything going on . I did start on the headers. I bought a set of v8 sprint car headers from Stahl. 4 out of the 8 tubes fit . I using the the other 4 to fab up two tubes to make it work. Trans is also mounted.

Sorry to hear about your Dad.

------------

What motor is that ?
Chevy 60 degree V6 ?
Doesn't look like a 90 degree.

Manifold is KILLER.

For tires,I'd consider something taller on back.

Thanks for the kind words and prayers. The old man wasn't really into car .. though he did teach me how to do a brake job at age 12 onthe family station wagon. Sad thing about it ...I'm still doin his brake jobs. No regrets!

Its a 60 degree V6 . Picked it up complete for $800. Its better than new. Forged flat top piston , roller rockers , blueprinted & balanced, It should stomp with the 3:73 BMW rearend and the 4:10 first gear

Not dead and surely not forgotten......Slowly back in progress. Dad's been in and out of the hospital after the cancer surgery. My project is my stress reliever right now when there is time. I finished up building the headers,, had to redo the foot box and started to fab up the Tilton brake assembly mount under the dash Had to square the body up first and rough fit the doors. i'll post some pictures soon.

Pops has recovered after everything he has went through. So have I . The project stopped for a big "Honey Do!" Finished the basement and have it ready for Christmas. It's done and I'm broke after using up most of my project money. Time for more side jobs.
Well I did make some progress . The front end of the frame is done and I have figured out the rear set up. Had to make a few mod's to make the 944S aluminum arms to work. Since the the torsion system is gone , I'm going with coil overs. One problem I came across was the lower shock mounting. There is some outfit that has a 14mm adapter bolt for only $150 . Out of my price range . I think I have something that will work. I'll post a photo soon. Later Joe

Had some extra time this weekend. No kids or wife to bug me. Make some progress . Took the chassis parts off to do all the finish welding and to install the floor pan. One side done ...another to go!

Movin right along... with a little help from bt. Bt stopped over to pound on some sheet metal and do a little . Been trying to get into the garage as much as possible since the Speedster will be back in about 6 weeks. Hoping to have the chassis finished by then.

Changed my mind in bead rolling the floor. Rather go with the smooth look.
Right now dealing with a bad case of welders flash

Well Murphy strikes again ! The chassis is paint satin black suspension parts powder coated . The QA1 coil over came in . Ooop! wrong dimension for the mounting ... heck the top mount was completely wrong . Had to cut and paste once again making the shock to mount almost straight up. Pictures later . The front axle goes out for powder coating tomorrow. Well during the wait I figured it's time to get some new tires on the ol truck . Heck I put 70 ,000 on the them. Well it was a good time to get the project car tires mount also . Hey Its getting close to finally have a rolling chassis . Well the local Firestoner dealer beside the shop owner trying to sell me a brake job and an alignment they tell me ... I have a nasty crack in one of the new rims . Ya right Sure enough a hairy #@*$ crack ( through wall)
That won't hold air !
No problems with the other 3 wheels and tires .
Just think .. havin to wait 12+ weeks for delivery for these wheels and to have one bad one .
I took it home dye checked it and its alot worst than I thought it was .

Its 75% across the wheels OD /width. Oh Nutts!!!!!
Well I try to locate the dealer who is no longer in business . Then onto the American Racing wheel website . Good luck navigating on that site to find a contact for warranty issues. So after a little surfing for some info I found the President and Vice Pres. or ARI . So I burner off a pollite email to see where it goes from there .

Hope I get a replacement less than 12 weeks

Just received a new replacement wheel . American Racing Wheels are now owned by Wheels Pros. Super service . It's infortunate the aluminum wheel's barrel is made in China and the custom center placement is weld in the USA . USA made high quality welds. Maybe American Racing Wheel is now going by A.R.E. is because the China issue . Designed in America...made in China. "Amewican Lacing Reel " made in China!

Back on track with the car , Rear shocks mounted , awaiting for a few more suspension parts to come back from the powder coater .. then it's balls to the walls assembly time.
