How do you plan on finishing out the rocker panels?

I need you opinion. I like the flat finish look with a lot less gap between the inner rear fender and the inside wall of the tire . So the rear apron is style is the ????

Now Don't laugh at the next few shots

Yes It's Duct tape

What do you think?
I'll need to dust off the old "E" wheel to get the panel to roll just right.
The other option is to scavenge a few old rear fenders and cut them to fit .

Hey Joe, the nose looks good.

I would use the E wheel. Whats your plan for the top of the wheel opening(where the old fender bolts to the qp and transitions to the piece you're going to make)?

I like the model A panel idea and where you are going with the duct tape.

How about making a body line bead that starts at the leading edge of were the body and rear fender mate...that goes up and over the wheel well and then goes across the bottom of the apron to the other side.

Kinda like a 32 ford without the two body lines that come down the top of the quarters. Just the fender bead and the bottom bead.

Duct tape - the greatest material around beside WD40 . Just using the tape to get a visual reference of the body transitions. It makes it easy to lay construction paper on to make a template.

I looked at it some more.

I think the shape of the flat panel needs to change. Instead of being a semi-circle, it needs to be more teardrop shaped. Material needs to be added to the back rearward side of the panel to make it swoop back and more closely follow the rear shape of the bug. .....stretch it maybe 6-8 inches at the very bottom.

Maybe somebody better than me can photoshop it or sketch it.

Gone awhile though not forgotten.....
Gas tank ... yes it was one of those things that we need . I try all sort of configurations and finally came up with this one

I was thinking of covering it with some leather like fabric to make it look like an old trunk case w belts. I'll get that ??? hey where the gas tank? What gas tank!
More to come soon.

It's funny how I'm starting to run out of room on this project. Gas tank & battery have been a challenge .
Lately I have started on the doors and rocker panels. The bottom corners of the doors will be rounded .

I'm ?????? regarding the rear fenders

Partial fender do look cool.

Two steps forward ... five reverse. This is the first chop , channel & rake I have ever done. Oh what fun.
I found out the the doors were not squared up . So fit up was a pain in the you know what. Too much rake on the "A" pillar . I had to raise the "A" pillar up 3/4" . Now the door fits just right. I also started on the suicide doors . Found out that the brackets get in the way of the window tracks making it impossible to roll the windows down all the way. Modified the hinge brackets and added additional support to the door. Lots of German engineering going on. I am widening the door thickness in order to make it look uniform.
