Even though its a pain in the ass its still a killer build, and it looks sharp now; I can't wait to see the finished product

Well I kinda have an idea what I doing with the doors . After welding the botttom inner piece on the door , forgot about a threashold and carpet . So I cut it off and started over . Raised up 3/4" .

Now by splitting the door I can make it look flush on the inside.

I'm thinking of welding a heavier gauge steel in the front door jamb area . I 'll get to that later . I put a nice gash in my side lots of blood .. no stitches needed. Thanks to crazy glue . Burns only for a little while though it was relieved by a shot a Jack .

Finally some progress - I have one door fitted up . The suicide hinge works finally. Started to finish the inside of the door . It's more than I expected . I welded in some heavy gauge steel in the front for the bear claw latches. I plan on using the VW style door seals . Oh what fun.
Nobody carries the thin gauge .049 1/2 square tubing. So in my search I came up with 1/2" square tubing used for shelf supports from Home Depot.

A little old Skool bending with the vise.

Open cut one end . There you have it a custom seal channel .

Lower step of the inner door panel.

I have two weeks off around Xmas . I should get both doors done.

With all the stress at work I have not been too intrigued in touching my project. We were told last November that 50% of our work force will be reduced by March 2010. We now have to reapply for our jobs. I just could not create under all the BS!

I did get something done . I was able to finish the passenger door . Looking at all the projects on this site with suicide doors and I have one question. Are you guys going to have windows that work? I had to modify my hinges to get more clearance in the door for the window tracks. I also finished the door so I can use a VW interior panel.

Well the project was postponed for a bit until I received the word that I still have a job. The corp. I 've been working for 23 yrs decided to sell off 50% of the assets in of division. That also meant 50% of the people were being let go. I still have a job for now. It's unfortunate for the ones that don't. It will be grey in out office for some time to come.

That's enough of the gloom and doom.

Here's some progress .
Trunk area

Foot box construction

Mock up of dash

Wow, looking sweet. Sorry about your employment situation...Good luck. If you're are still having issues with your suicide doors, there's a recent thread around here somewhere where myself and a few others have posted some info.

My finances took a serious down-turn. I had to put all hobbies on hold. I'm better now, hey, do-do happens.
I just looked, the last time I was here was in Sept (time flies).

We're good on the wheels, just keep using them, if needed. Ill get them from you when your done.

The mash-up needs paint. It will be painted this year. I'll send you some pics.

The dash mock up wasn't going anywhere. Someone rolled off an idea and I think it will work.

Finally got the new air plenum . It does look different. Then again there were some strange looking injection systems at the strip in the 60's. The color will be different on the block.

I do need your opinion . The rear fenders. What do you think?
Less tire exposed?

More tire exposed ?

I will roll the edges to finish them.

Are fenders required in your state? If not, I would go with out all together. That big fat tire looks great hanging out there. Project is looking killer. You have gotten a ton of work done!

I have been away for awhile and haven't posted any updates. Things should be moving along soon.
Since my gas tank is in the back .. I got a little creative with the tank filler.
