Cut the box to fit the speakers/sub, caulked the seams, test mounted the components, got it wired up, and then hooked it up to the 550w amp in my Suburban (as I don't have an amp for the VW yet). Sounded great and shook the 'burb when the bass hit. Ought to be plenty for a Bug. Ordered a matching grill for the sub. Will pick up an amp soon and get the box covered.

Through the awesome world of the local VW network I was donated a rear seatback cover for the box. Many thanks to Joel (aka Bookooz) for the material.

Jumped back on after being super busy the last few years. I realized I never posted photos of the project finished. My son drove it through high school and loves the car. He is now in college in SoCal and a D1 wrestler. He looks forward to getting home and back in his bug.
Here are the boy (man) and his ride. Final product is sporting front air suspension with about 4" of travel.
