Update August 13th:

So, in case you are interested... Here are some pics on what I did yesterday...

I didn't get the roofsection welding finished yesterday but pretty close. The bodylines seems to become pretty good..

As you can see the reardecklid needs to shrink some more...

Update August 26th:

The roof finally welded! I also shortened the allready shrunk reardecklid and other inch and also narrowed it one and a half inch on the upper edge to fit the body better.

Here I'm testing out the headlight size with a light we had laying around the shed..

A few more...

My kid working on his Rod..

Here you see the rear decklid in progress. The upper edge is now reshaped and fitted into the body and I have shortened the lower part an inch and rewelded the edges. You can see the excess sheetmetal stickin out as a scoop on it.. I just piecut the lowerpart in the center and rewelded everything...

And here is a sideview after the decklid is finished. Looks acceptable doesn't it?

A rearview too...
(That's my brother in the background working on his Austin Mini Rear decklid... H just finished it with some leadfiller... )

Update September 17th:

Been awhile since last update...

Here is the first sneak peek.. Will upload some more but have to download them from my brother because I forgot my own camera today...

So, here you go. Feel free to ask questions. I'll then see if I can answer them...

As I dont own a tube bender I first tried to bend my 40mm tube by sticking it between the stone foundation under the shed in the background but the half ton rocks moved too much so I had to find something else... Then I tried the concrete pump I have (the green bubly thing also in the background) That worked!!

Then I just and ... Basically..

One more.

Update today...

So, I got by to work some on The Kidvrod today.

Now the body is braced so I can start cutting off the heaterchannels and replace them with inch by inch square tubes. The side view is much better without anything underneath the doors.

I also straightened the fronthood back to how I originally had made it. Looks way much better now!!

Hmm. So much for the offline secretacy..

Here's the front axle now finished. I had to narrow the Anglia's axle by 14cm. (almost 6 inches) I also moved(and narrowed) the springleaves above the axle instead of in front as original. Looks pretty good in my opinion..

Did some work on the front 1/4 panels today. I used a pair of scrapped split rear 1/4 panels...

Update November 4th, 2006, 08:57

So. Today I finally did some major welding and fully welded all the seams on the roof.

Then I up the upper edge of the windscreen frame as I thought it looked as a hightower with the standard -74 roof.

I then welded in a new edge 30mm lower by using parts from an other late roof and patched the roof by using the front edge of the roof I cut off my Hebster a couple of years ago.

By lowering the windshieldframe 30mm it now looks like I would have used a split I think it looks much better and more chopped this way..

Here I'm in full action the fronthood.

Some photos from yesterday. Just remember, this project is my first attempt in buttwelding so I'm learning for every inch I weld...

Ok. I had a whole 5 minutes photo session in the garage tonight...

I had to go there and do some different headlight positions... I like the one with them the highest my self. The lights were just perfect in size.. I almost got worried when I first opened the package...

Edit: Yes, my secret headlightmounts are hidden in the paint buckets...

Went to the garage tonight for a couple of hours. I had "borrowed" some 52mm tubing from work. I need it for making the mount for the stock steeringbox.

So, I spent most of the time trying to mock up a working steering geometry...

Some pics of the best version...

As you see, I also found some square tubing that I'm beginning to shape the frame from.

So, here is what I picked up at the post office today! The first of the "dummy carbs". It is a Weber 36 IDF. Looks very tiny beside the tiny Porsche carbs for the T-34...

I just wish I would find another Weber 36 IDF to mate with this one...

This one came all the way from UK...

January 1st, 2007, 08:18 PM

After I finished the tiling for today I had to go to the garage and do some creative planning.

So I did some mockup on the dummy motor with the Weber carb I got..

I think I will do it just for fun...

I also tried this.. Looks pretty cool too...

So, finally today after I painted on the watersealant in the bathroom I took me some time to go to the garage and have some fun...

First I took a piece of chipboard and drilled and jigsawed the correct shapes in it. Then I cut out the holes in the sheetmetal slightly smaller.

I simply put the cut chipboard on the floor (I did manage to make room for it on the floor in the garage... )

Put the sheetmetal over it and used my own weight as a "wice"... and started to hammer the steel..

This is what I had after almost one hour after I drilled the first hole in the chipboard.. It's not perfect but I'm pleased with it. Now it just needs to get to my brother's garage where I have my English wheel so I can shape the surrounding to fit the body.

Here the finished product as you have been expecting..

I'm pretty pleased myself too.

I realised that I was lucky when I started to test out the width on it in the body before I started to shape it, because if it would have been an inch longer it wouldn't have fit the body...

Now I just need to cut out the ugly cut down -74 dash.. and in this one...

The dash meet the body for the first time...

I had to go to the garage and saw some wood strips for the ceiling in the bathroom so I took the chance and brought the dash to the garage too just for testfitting it for the first time...

Yesterday I recieved a set of smaller headlightbuckets. The lense size is slighty over 4,5" just would need to find some light that fit in them now...

Ok, I finally got me some time to go to the bro's garage and test out the new smaller headlight buckets. I draw some stripes to make a fake lense for easier visualition... I still feel these might be too small...

I still like these bigger ones better...

Finally got something done!! Just got home from the garage and uploaded some photos. (It's 43mins past midnight now...)

Started working on the frame. I use a -62 frametunnel that I have sliced up and will be shortened. I also turned the handbrake handle to point backwards and will bend it up some more and use it as the gearshifter..

Edit: TheSamba gallery is down for maintainance (again) so I linked the pictures from my Homepage instead...

So I started with the front hood, then I decided that I'd try my first attempt at leadfilling... The hood was washed with a mixture of muriatic acid and orto phosphorous acid..

Well, that was not so fun it changed colour to Gold, kind of...

Anyways the leadfilling did work anyhow.

Ok. Here it goes. Someone who's athorized to move posts could make a copy of this post into the How-to-leadfill in the Techbin.

First I applied the Etching and let it etch for 10-15 minutes:

Then heated it with the torch so the lead melted and wiped off the excess etching. (dont have a separate picture of that but you see it in the next one too.)

Here I allready have applied the lead onto the areas that need filling:

Here it is spread with a flat tool make out of a strip of White Oak dipped in motoroil.

Here you see the surface after I sanded it. The small dark spots need some more lead as they are lowspots. I started the spreading from there. The tip was much better spread for some reason.

Here from the front:
Didn't sand the front tip yet as I couldn't find the suitable sized tool last night...

Started to finish off the rear decklid today.

I thought as the body became a split that it needed a correct decklid...

I'll see if I'm able to go back to the garage later tonight and finish the welds...

I also finally got both frontwheels welded and testmounted on the frontaxle.

Looks good, dont you think?

Went back to the garage later this evening just to test some stuff, and take some more pictures.

Tested one of the Peep-mirrors. Does it look OK?

Tested how the decklid looks on the body. Here you also can see the Peep-mirror from rear..

And sandblasted and primered the rearwheels.
