How much for the drums, studs and labor, shipping = total for the rear? Who did you talk to?

You'd lose a lot of strength that way (dissimilar metals problems, threaded "plugs").

If that was the only aluminum in the world, you should press out the studs, TIG those holes full, mill the mounting surface, and then drill the new holes.

Talk to Josh, the rears come to 186 and that included 25 dollars for shipping to Ohio.

29.95 blank, 60 dollars to drill the pair, 31.90 for 10 studs, 10 to press them in!
for some reason some of the people think the drill charge is different than the patterns already quoted in the book. (the studs pressed in is too much for something already set up)

Ok, scored some chevy/ford adapters for the front buggy rims. The rims are unilug so I will need the washers but I am half way there on the front, and for $20 [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif[/img]

biggest downside is safety. adapters have been known to break.....will also increase tread width a little which can be an issue on fendered cars

I've never heard of a pair that were machined from 6061-T6 aluminum breaking - have you (or anybody else)?

AFAIK, it was the earlier cast adapters that were semi-fragile, just like cast wheels versus machined from billet.

I have a pair of wide 5 vw to old ford 5 lug adapters,the crazy part is that i was at the scrap yard with my bug truck and found a set of nice 16" ford wires and they had adapters bolted to them, what luck huh?Anyway they are big adapters, cause you can't run wires unless you have adapters that will fill the back hub space and push up against the rear hub of the rims as ford wire rims will crack without the back support, so keep that in mind when looking.I can post a few pics of mine if anyone wan't to see them, and i also have about 3 sets of 16" ford wire rims if anyone wants to buy a set, as i build rods also, so i have old hotrod stuff as well.

Yeah... if someone has a pair or set of these, I'd like to get in line as well.

As you might be able to tell from my post last month about this (click here) ... these things are nearly impossible to come across, and I've been beating my head against the wall.

I'd go in halves with Grumps. I'd like a full set, but I could make it by with just a pair for the front. The rears can be drilled.

I'd be interested in the other 2 if you have 4. If Grumpy does'nt want the other 2 that is. If they are for the ford 5 1/2 pattern.

yea mine are bolted on 35 ford wires which are the 5 1/2 bolt pattern, but they are not for sale, i just thought someone might like to see what they look like i will post a few pics real soon.

here are 2 shots of the front and back.as you can see they are for wide 5 vw to 5 1/2 ford.they have the deep holes for the vw lug nuts so they are sunk down in.Nice design and they are 1 1/2" wide.They were cut from solid steel so they are super strong but heavy.

here are 2 more shots , the first is the back side of a 35 ford rim, which you can see is very thin and without the hub filling the space and the hub resting against the back they will crack, and be very dangerous.The second pic has the adapter set in and you can see it fills the space and adds the support the rims needs.

actually the vw drum sits perfectly in a ford wheel with about 1/4" all the way around.

Was thinking about running these 6 lug kelsey hayes 16" cause I have hubs that will bolt onto some kinda spindle for my 35-36 ford axle. Not sure how the hell I am gonna find out which spindle I need.

But then I will just have to get adapters for the back.
