What kind of ‘buttons’ do your plan on modifying for the body work? 🤔😀

I'm using Frankie 2.0 for some inspiration now, my frame head on my '69 is too far gone and if I cut/replace it I'd have to replace the pans too as they were booger welded in by the previous owner, so instead of $600+ for just a head/pans I can throw down a couple bones on 2x3 square tubing and tack out a frame, I'll keep an eye peeled for a S-10 or Sonoma donor though. Love what you've done.

That rules. Yeah when I looked at the cost to do stock replacement pans and it only made sense for me to put in a little more time and save a lot of money. Working with the S10 was fairly easy and parts availability is awesome. But I think down the road I will end up building another frame. There's a few changes I would like to make to it. But for now I can at least drive and enjoy it. I'll build up the other frame and swap everything over when it's done.

Some updates on the winter work so far. Don't have quite as much done as I would like. Been helping my buddy on a Pontiac Lemans restoration he's been doing. But still managed to get a few things done.

Got a new Hilborn style scoop with some fins to match my Offenhauser valve covers. I will be repainting them all. Black with green accents t match all my other green stuff.

Even the little grill that came with the scoop matched the perforated steel I used for my grill.

Scored a new fuel tank courtesy of one of my bar owner friends...haha It's over at my other buddies having all the fittings and filler neck welded in. I don't know how to tig so I'm leaving that one up to him. It's a perfect fit. Just need to make a little stand to secure it. I will need to hinge the deck lid to open the opposite way so to allow me to fill it. If I were to leave it as is I wouldn't be able to get a nozzle to the filler neck. This will give me a fuel capacity of 58 litres instead of the 20ish I have now. Less pit stops! haha

As part of the deal for helping my buddy with the Lemans, he got me this posi rear end with 3.73 gears. This is going to make Frankie a whole lot more fun! haha

Decided to try my hand at some upholstery. I liked my seats, but they were a little on the plain side. I wanted something a little more interesting. I saw this diamond stitching in an old gasser last summer and wanted to do something similar. I will do the door panels to match the seats.

Here's the planning stages. I was going to do the diamond stitch the whole length of each panel, but decided to break it up and tie it into the sides better.

Here's how they turned out. Not perfect, but I'm pretty happy with how they turned out for my first go. I'll probably end up fixing them up down the road, but these will do for now.

The two-tone seats look great! They remind me of those in a friend’s ‘56 Chevy back in the mid-‘60s. Beer keg tank is a really nice touch. Frankie is looking very cool!

Back around 1986 I had a 69 Chevy van with some really ratty seats, we had an old couch in the basement that was tore up, except for the back that always faced the wall, I cut all the fabric and used it to make new seat covers, the old covers looked like swiss cheese, but I was able to use them as a pattern, they really turned out nice, I only wish I had taken pictures

Haha that's awesome! I had an 84 Olds Delta 88 that needed a new headliner and used one of the curtains I had in my apartment to recover it.

Finished up the other seat last night. Very happy with these. Got me pumped to do the door panels. I'll do them in the same style. black top and diamond stitch in the green.

Picked up some tubular control arms from Speedway, to give the front end a bit of a nicer look over the stock stamped control arms.

My buddy finished up tig welding all my fittings and filler neck into the keg tank. Now I just need to get on making a stand.

Last year was all about getting it running and driving, and this year is all about making it look good!

Alright now that the world is shutting down I have time to work on Frankie again. Got my tilt deck lid mostly done this weekend. Just need to add the hood pins to keep is closed. Where I put the fill neck on the keg tank wouldn't allow me to get the nozzle into the fill neck when the deck lid was open. So I had to make it open in the reverse direction. I used some weld on hinges that slide apart so it was east to remove if I needed to do any work or remove the tank.

Thanks all! Loving how this came out. Last night I finished up this piece of the puzzle with putting the hood pins in. I used the stock deck lid hinge mounts. Chopped em, flipped em, drilled em and the hood pins fit perfectly.

Got the legs all done for the keg tank and got it mounted in the car. Just need to add the fuel level sender and plumb the new line.

Since I have nowhere to be on the weekends now, I've got some time to purdy things up before Frankie hits the road again. Got started on the scoop. it was a great price when I bought it, but the paint showed why it was such a good deal. Gave it a sand and hit it again with some gloss black.

Then I striped the fins with 1 Shot Sublime Green to match all the other green bits. The valve covers will be done the same way.

Between my intake colour, valve covers, and plug wires, the engine was looking like the inside of a Crayola crayon box.

I wanted to tone that down a but so I started with the intake. Went gloss black with that as well. I'm also going to swap out the plug wires to black. Possible green if I can find good ones to match the other stuff.

It's going to be nice to see this car all in one colour for once.
