Now this isn't just another "post a picture of your car" thread. This one will need a bit of an artistic eye.
What I'm looking for is exactly what the title reads....A Shit Stain On A Monet.
What this means is, look for a location that would appeal to an artist. The backdrop is what will make the photo and should be the primary focal point and your VolksRod is only there to bring down the property value.
By placing the two contrasting elements together the goal is to add a whole new perspective to the picture.
Now this isn't limited to rat rods, if your Volksrod has a nice finish (capecodster, Gkafer, Swoodard, etc...) then just find a contrasting background (burned out forrest, collapsed building, etc...). In other words, something that your car would improve the property value
Have fun with this. Real photos only, no photoshops.
Of course I can't end this post without adding the pic that inspired my quote. Here is blacktrucks car, the original "Shit Stain On A Monet"

Dude, just to clear things up, I love your car!! SSOAM is just my interperatation of what a purist might think.
Your picture is VERY artistic. It actually draws your eye in to the car at the top of the rear window because of the "valley" in the trees and the light on the water. Then you follow the lines to the front of the car, mainly because of the chopped roof and the light on the street underneath the car, until you hit the shadows and your eye naturally goes up to the light until it is intersected by the sidewalk. It then follows this line to the people. Because of the shadows and curvature of the trees on the right of the photo you are then sent back to the center and left side of the picture until you notice the people across the lake. Then once again, the angle of the tree sends your eye back to the rear of the car and it all starts over again.
In my oppinion, you couldn't have planned this picture any better if you tried. I also think it couldn't have worked with any other car.
Very nice picture and a very cool car.

I'm gonna have to quote you Tim,my wife is convinced that I can only take pictures of double chins and nostrils.
the funny thing about that particular spot is it looks like a dump where I was standing. And up the road is where all the transients
with campers park and air out their sleeping bags.

Here is my entry. My photo so no worries about legalities. I have model releases here somewhere. If you look closely there is a stain in the bottom left corner.

No appology needed. I should have given you a better response but due to the fact that I had mixed perscriptoin medication and beer last night, things were a little out of wack. Hell, just look at my response to blacktrucks post Just a little more wordy than it should have been .
Your pic would have been perfect if you were standing about 30 feet away to get more of the background. It really is a good shot .
Hey bulldog, I said no photoshops!! Those boobs are definatly not real!! (a 'not safe for work warning should be added)
hotrodheb, Nice collection
vwcalbug, Artsy yes, Monet no. Nice shot though!!

Ummm...
Hey Mr. Punk...
I thought that the deal was to get a photo of a "perfect" setting. The sun setting over the horizon, a snow capped peek, or a cascading waterfall as the main image in the photo, and then your (or any) VW snuck in to add an element of artistic conflict? This means that the image must have movement, color, texture, emotion, and I can’t remember off the top of my head what the other elements of a perfect image are.
Did I miss understand you, or isn't that what you are asking for? This isn't supposed to be another "post a pic of your ride" thread as I understand it. I'm working on one for you, but I haven't found the right hour of lighting yet. The shadows either get jumbled, or they are not well enough defined to add proper depth. I'll get you one though, assuming that this is the kind of image that you are after.

opposites~~~, shiny car, dumpy background,
unfinished , classical background.
ya know, out of place.......opposites
mine would go infront of a or pointing at a burned out house, my twist would be, the dragon did it, ya know, huffed and puffed, that story. I just haven't gotten out to do a photo yet. or I could just park it out back where the pile of debris is stacked up,, or the back neighbors yard, it's full of trash ... ( I love you words~~) perzactly,,,
here's a scenario.
you're on the beach painting a lovely pic of all the colors of the sunset, crashing waves and the swaying trees in the seabreeze, when suddenly you now have an uncontrollable urge to shoot every seagull in the sky since one just made a contribution to your fine art.
or you took the perfect pic of a hillside with springtime wildflowers with the family only to get a look at it when you got home and somebody parked a whatever , just as the timer went off.
been there done that~~

I'm not only an okie, but I'm also native American...
My mother is Faqarwee. They were a proud people, but had no sence of direction. They romed the plains yelling... "We're the Faqarwee!"
My father is also native American. His name is Chief Dirtybottom from the Nowyp'em tribe.
Ya just gotta love you roots!
