Don't know if anyone knows about this or not, but I stumbled across this post on the Samba and thought someone here may be interested.

An 1835, 70MPH and still have power to spare, I would hope so~ but a GEX? yeah, russian roulette with that.

I've driven 1 cabrio once, didn't like it, top up or down. I'm short, and that bulky top just blocked my view too much. Bad enough I'm 1/2 blind in this Bay

Ditch the top, waterproof the interior, add stripes, might be ok~

$3k, I'd take that with the GEX motor and drive the piss out of it until it did blow up.

John..that what I was thinking too! $3k for a running driving convertable...that is a great deal!

Or part it out... 1835 GEX outright runs $1700+. vert doors $100-$200 each. top frame $200-500, Dan Gurney wheels & caps....$200-500, set of new
165's $300, vert rear seat $200, 65-7 front seats $200, new visors and nos mirror w/light $100....that's about $3k right there and lots left to sell, maybe another grand if you milked it.

Alykat, I'm w/you...new top skin, tension cables, rear seal and some front seat covers will run about $300+.

If that was a local car, i'd buy it and buff it out!! Hmmm, think it'll swim?
Aloha

Jon, STFU. Keep pointing out "flaws" in the system and the gov't will close them up soon. It is pretty easy here if you wanted to do what you said. They check a lot harder if the car comes from another state into FL though, but still not using mirrors to look in the tunnel or any of the crap I've heard from California.

Aly, Shit!

I talked w/owner....and placed an order with Wolfsburg West an hr. ago. A new top skin, front seat covers and small ,misc bits-n-pieces & a euro ->67 front apron. I sure don't like 'purple' though(sorry Carlene no offense)!

I have ->67 rear fenders, 58-63 vert decklid, snowflake and 62-67 taillights, early rear apron, couple pr. of early headlights & front turn sigs, & a fair rt. side 64-66 front fender. Got to find the other front fender or a nice pair and a hood..... have a nice set of 15x6 Fuchs alloys w/caps and oddly enough, a set of late drums drilled and studded for the Fuchs.... The guys over here will spend hrs. trying to figure out what year it is...lol!

I'll just fiddle w/it & drive it...got to get my VR on the road 1st!
Aloha

"Beam extended 11 inches, then flipped ("suicide beam") to move the wheels up another 11 inches for a total of 22 inches. Also added air ride and custom disc brakes."

Umm Cross bracing ? Looks dangerous.

I give it about 6 good sized bumps... and by that I mean by the 7th good sized bump it'll probabaly fall off..

I think/ hope it's just a mockup! I like the flipped beam trick. If you really want to push those arms out there, narrow the beam 3" and run some 4 x 1.75 arms. It would push the wheels forward 4" more inches.
