Default Hey....from Santa Rosa california

Been lurking around here for a year or so and think it's about time I introduced myself. It's been my lifelong dream to build street rods when I retired and retirement is only a month away, so i guess I'm living the dream...:)

I'm located in Santa rosa , California and currently working on getting my shop and tools ready for my new vocation. Pretty much have everything I need at this point except an engine lathe. Having worked as a machinist for some twenty odd years, I'm planning on fabricating a lot off my own stuff.

I've owed various VW's since I was a young and am now driving my 25th bug. It's my second superbeetle but sadly a previously mistreated one and thus a money pit. Judging by all the repair receipts I found in the glove box after I bought it, I can understand why he got rid of it. I intended to get into some alterations as soon as I bought it, but instead, find myself spending my free time and cash just trying to keep it alive. Fortunately I can do my own work so I will continues this love/hate relationship until I prevail! The good news is, I'm soon going to run out of parts to replace, that is after I redo all the worhtless chinese junk I put in it.

It's not really suitable for a ratrod, but so far I've lowered the front end , shaved the turn signals and license plate bracket, frenched the antenna and put on 39 ford tailights. Future plans are, widened fenders, clean running boards, a dash from an older v dub or possibly another vehicle all together, suiside doors , oval or split window clip and W engine lid.

As soon as I get my recently purchased 49 GMC truck on the road, I'll start getting after it in a more serious manner.
This place rocks!
