Hey all, here's an intro just cuz it seems like thats the thing to do according to your hey noob rules.
I'm Dave... Davedough on the digital highway. Long story about the dough part, but make whatever conclusions you want to about it. I'm a (as of July 2005) 31 year old married man, father of a beautiful 2 year old, living out in Northern Virginia, tryin to keep the cost of living out here from pulling me under. I work for The George Washington University as the Manager of IT Services. Important title for a relatively boring job. =)
I'm just starting to get into the world of air cooled VWs. My hobby backgrounds come from building heavy rock crawlers from my Phoenix Arizona days
http://davedough.homestead.com/files/DaveAZ.jpg to building and having a blast with a few modified quads on the east side of the world.
http://davedough.homestead.com/files/Davewheelie.jpg I've even been known to take my daily driver through the paces.
http://davedough.homestead.com/files/ohshit.jpg Through some deep research, a bit of daydreaming and a lot of convincing to the wife that this is something that I HAVE to do, I've decided on building a custom Type 3 notch. Looking at the bodylines, I think a 1965 has everything that I want to start on. A brainstorm session with the Type 3 Selecta program and a tiny manipulation in photoshop, I came up with a basic idea of one direction I may take.

That project, however, is going to have to wait until winter since I'm building a house out in the woods, and my wife tells me that the house takes precidence over the Vdub. I tell her that she's probably right, but I'm not sure I see the wisdom. =)
I'm sure I'll recognize a few names from all The Samba posts I've been reading as well. I stumbled upon this website and it seems to fit the theme that I want to go for. You guys look like you have some fun with your Dubs and dont worry too much about keeping it 100% factory original.
