Default Welcome to Skidmarks Garage, Shop Truck Build

Hi guys, some of you know me already as I've been on here as Halfastvw for a few years.
The Volxrod has been sold and I've since built a full tilt 21 window bus.
Well, it's for sale now and I've started my newest project "Shop Truck" which I think you all may enjoy, not a Volxrod but not a custom bus either. I found this site after my rod was finished and didn't think the bus would fit here but my truck just may, If not just let me know.
I'm now a full time builder at my shop Skidmarks Garage in Belleview, Fl. Right now have 2 Fridolins, a single cab, 60 15 window and 66 Kombi all in for massive restorations.
(To the Mods, My Halfastvw account is still up so what should be done with it and also I may have registered as skidmark a long time back)

Alright, I read the how to photo thing and still don't see how to "talk" between pictures, I'll be using Photobucket for most photos..........
So here's what I started with..........

After seeing the rendering I decided to buy an old derelict bug and chop it up and play with the pieces to see how they might fit together as a C.O.E.

Deciding that a front engine configuration would not work without too much effort I decided that it would be possible as a rear engine truck.
So the build is on ! and I start looking for a donor bug and decide I like the early look better because of window size and dashboard Etc.......I'm thinking 64 or earlier and then this Oval pops up!.....

Up to Alabama I go and drag this baby home with me.......

The car I found was rusty and crusty beyond belief along the bottom (that's how I was able to afford an Oval )
Not too bad in the upper areas however the dash had some issues as well as the cowl and defroster ducts so the next Pic's. show those repairs. ( Caution the next several Pic's . contain graphic images of rust and crust and may not be suitable for some viewers )
Start by removing the cowl for access...........

Sweet! You made fixing that cancer look easy!
Are you going to leave the hood horizontal like that? Or are you going to go with a more sloped front end like the rendering? I kind of like the hood being more horizontal, im just not sure what I would build the rest of it as. I think something similar to this would be sweet! The general shape and not the size.....I hear size doesnt matter tho?

The hood will be along these lines ( with no grille of course ) "V" shaped like a beetle with a raised edge and center like a bug hood.
