I've got a German made clamp that screws onto the bottom of my camera,
like a tripod. So I just clamp it onto something secure, and away I go.

Otherwise, the shutter speed is so slow indoors, that all the pics are blurry.

The pinstripe pointers page idea sounds good. I think everyone on the forum is at least trying it. I have been messing aroun, but I definatly need some one shot, been practicing with model paint that lacks the consistancy to pull those tight pistol pete stripes. How to on pinstriping is a hot comododity.

hey guys, what i wanted to add real quick is another tip that is often past up by a lot of stripers in guides, and that is breathing. how i keep it steady and focused on fine tight stuff is the same way a professional gun shooter keeps it steady. that is to breathe in slow and i hold it steady while i run the line, and breathe out when im done, dont hold it tight or you'll pass out if your doing long lines LOL but hold it just enough and you'll find your hands stay nice and steady and you focuse on where your going better, by breathing as you stripe it makes it easy to sway left or right messing up your nice smooth run.
just something else to help out all our fellow striping fans

You guys rule! Ian those pictures are exactly what I needed to see. Hopefully I will get some brush time in this weekend and have some stuff to show you guys. I wouldn't be halfway to where I am with my striping if it wasn't for Ian and Pete. Thanks again guys! Thanks for the sharing the wealth Unk and Pete! Hopefully one of these days I will take the plunge and pick up a brush and try my hand at it! Now that I have all of you guys here helping us striping newbies out, I have no excuse not to try it out!

Question...when looking at the pics of how to turn the curve, at the very end it looks like your guide finger is almost into the line that you just drew. Now, how do you keep yourself from touching that line when you continue on with it? Also , when do you stop pulling a line..ie: when do you pick up the brush..at a corner, junction of 2 lines, etc????

This is a common problem doing flames.
You just go as far as you can, then stop, reposition your self, and continue.
If it takes 2 or 3 steps to do a curve nicely, that's fine.

Sometimes you stop because your running out of paint,
or running out of room for your fingers,or you are in an awkward position.
With practice, you can start and stop a line anywhere, without a trace.

I was talking to a guy that has been painting cars and doing stripes for about 20 years last night at the track.
One thing he said to me was "If you don't stripe, don't start. And if you do stripe, don't stop"
