Default Heater Channel Question

Hi,

I'm new to the Volksrod world an just wondering if there's a safety issue relating to NOT having heater channels in my beetle? I've cut them out already due to rust, I took away the pipes that feed the heat in from the engine, is it ok to do this?

Many thanks in advance for your help,

Richy

Main lower structure to the body. If you replace with box steel is OK but some kind of channel is needed unless you weld the body to the pan and reinforce pans.

if you use box steel and a little imagination you can route the hot air through there just like the heater channels

True, never thought of that, I'm on a pretty tight budget so buying new heater channels that I don't want would be ridiculous, think box steel is the way forward, thanks guys
