The oppression thing is reference to a statement along time ago when the one of the very few fruitcakes we have here said that home depot was oppressing the country or something like that and then culd not follow up with an example.
This particualr person shall not be named. So don't ask.

I was just poking some fun at ya Jon

I remember the original incident, it just makes me chuckle every time you mention Home Depot and don't let them opress you!

I'll leave you guys to your Corner before something breaks and I get blamed!

The weather is supposed to be nice Sunday & Monday. I'll be out working on the shop & tinkering with the VWs all day Sunday if anyone wants to drop by. I'm not sure what's up for Monday but I'm off work. This is the first year we get MLK day off with pay.

Really? It's our first time getting the day off. It's all part of our new TotalRewards package from Caterpillar. We gained MLK day and New Year's Eve this year but lose any holiday that falls on a Saturday (we used to get the Friday before off). Our company paid 3x annual salary life ins. went to 2x but we can buy another 4x for basically nothing. Our short term disability is now free and starts day one (instead of after 40 hrs) and long term disability is also free now. We get unlimited paid sick leave now!!! There are a few conditions (attendance points and others) but still. Spouse and dependant life ins. (term or univ.) is literally a few cents per week. Of course, our medical ins. went up again, deductibles went up, and now I have a $90/ month "surcharge" because my wife doesn't take her employees crappy ins. as her primary ins.

We're still working on a full pension plan (mgmt. has one now, hourly doesn't) and a few other things. I might have to start an OT thread to see what others get as far as benefits.

I worked on the shop a little today when it wasn't raining too bad, plus I slept in. All the walls are done!! Now, I just have to pressure wash the building, put up the trim and the roll-up doors, and caulk a few spots. I may rivet all the seams but I'm not sure yet. Then the actual bldg. will be finished and I can move onto finishing the electrical supply to the building and the actual wiring & lights in the building. One step at a time.

Tomorrow, I find a helper and install the roll-up doors.

BTTT.

I have mounted the roll-up doors but I still have to set the tension on them. I took Monday off and a buddy is supposed to come by so maybe we'll get some stuff done on the electrical. He's a lot more motivated than I am. He just turned 60 and will flat out work circles around almost anyone I know.

Wow, this thread really took a shit and died, huh?

I don't feel like looking for the garage/shop thread so I'll post this here. I finally have all 350' of 2-1/2" conduit in the ground!!! I bought my meter can, service panel, smaller conduit, outlet & switch boxes, recepticles and switches, etc. last night and should have the building wired by next weekend if I make time to do it. I still have to buy the lights and the 220 plug for my welder. I'm going to hard wire my compressor to a 30a breaker, the welder plug goes to a 50a breaker. I bought a 200a service panel with extra room because it was actually cheaper than the 150a I wanted. Plus, it will be easy to add more later if I get a TIG or plasma cutter or whatever.

Once I'm done, I just have to wait for the elctric company to get the feed in and then the inspections. Getting close.

I hope to be in the same boat in a few weeks on my garage.

minor setback, they dug it wrong, its now right, the pour will be in the morning.

luckily I am about 50 feet from the main panel with mine. the wire gets expensive, not even counting the effort to dig.

congrats man...........garage party plans?

Sounds great. Glad to hear your making progress. Glad its working out for you.

I have been sick for over a fucking month and been working non stop the enire time. I finally got this mold done for the Wax Museum so I am looking forward to some time to do my own shit next weekend. Worst part is the extra money needs to go to other stuff so it won't even help me with my projects.

Dan, the lot I have now is almost twice as big as the one I had when you got those parts from me. That's good. The bad is my dumb ass decided to build my shop at the very back of it about 18' from the rear property line. OK, no biggie. Wait, I don't want power lines and poles running across my yard...so underground it goes. I rented a trencher but it didn't go deep enough is place for some reason and there were a few place I had to dig by hand. The really bad part is that my dumb ass never put any pipe in the ground and with rain and all this wind we've had lately the trench got filled in by about a foot. So, I had to dig about a foot out of the whole thing again and finish the places I couldn't get to with the trencher.

Garage party? Yeah, I'd be up for it if I knew anyone that would actually drive out to BFE where I live.

I hope your gets finished a lot quicker than mine.

Jon, hope you're doing better. I've had a head cold/ sinus infection for a couple weeks now and it's hard to get better working all the time. I feel your pain, brother.
