Re: New Beetle volksrod
Yeah... since they're running what appears to be "maypops" on the front... I'll buy the Volksrods moniker...

Oh God! It looks like Beelzebub's ballsack to me. No two lines or proportions go together.

Re: New Beetle volksrod
Well, at least it’s consistent. And the bug being ‘different’ fits in with our Volks Rods group.

Re: New Beetle volksrod
Last week I came out of the local coffee shop and a couple of guys were walking around the Single Cab. One had been looking underneath where the Ford oil pan and truck gearbox were clearly visible. I nodded when the older of the two asked if it was mine. Then he tossed out, “This isn’t a real VW anymore.”
I answered with a grin, “Thank you.”
The younger guy looked at his friend and laughed.

Let's revamp that well known old saying and change just one word. "There ain't no cure for purists ."

Need to jack that back end up at least another 3 inches and put some slightly bigger rear tires on it.. hardly has any rake the way it sits right now.. or maybe that's just an illusion caused by the grass..
Also needs a shifter that sticks out above the windshield ;P

Side profile is horrible. It has a beak.

Re: New Beetle volksrod
Looks like you check rear tire to fender clearance with a feeler gauge. I agree with a taller shifter. It would add ‘character.’

Re: New Beetle volksrod
I think the headlights needed to be closer to the body and bigger. Also, they sould have followed the hood shape fornthe nose, not added width. I think with a few more cues, it could have been better than meh....

Re: New Beetle volksrod
Whoops, a closer look and I can see that there is no rear fender.
I agree that bigger headlights would help.

Re: New Beetle volksrod
They settled on the headlights. The junkyard didn’t have two of the large ones.
