heres a few good car movies ya'll haven't mentioned...

Dirty Mary Crazy Larry (Supercharger Edition) ~ Peter Fonda, Susan George, Adam Roarke, and Kenneth Tobey (DVD - 1974)

Mary and Larry are two lovers who, with Larry's ace mechanic, kidnap the daughter of a grocery story owner, and make off with the ransom. They are chased over hill, over vale by the cops, who deploy everything from 426 Hemis to helicopters to stop Larry's Dodge Charger. Except Mary was not with them when the kidnap took place.

The Car (1977) Starring: James Brolin, Kathleen Lloyd

"The Car" manifests James Brolin's absolute summit of the acting craft, reflecting the finest performance he ever gave in one of the best films ever made -- about a driverless car that kills people and cannot be stopped. (Before you denounce this concept as implausible, take a look at "Yentl.") Brolin's delivery in "The Car," his use of his features, expressions, voice and body to totally immerse himself in the character of a small-town law officer facing the challenge of a lifetime, is unparalleled by any other work in his career.

The Blues Brothers (Collector's Edition) (1980) Starring: John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd Director: John Landis Rating

"It's got a cop motor, cop shocks... cop suspension..."

theres a video on youtube somewhere of a guy who built a replica of the police car, and drove it through the mall that they drove through in the movie:) whats great is the local police station is outside of the old closed down mall... the cops didn't say a word to him:)

The Cannonball Run (1981) Starring: Burt Reynolds, Roger Moore Director: Hal Needham Rating

If ya dont know the plot of this one your too young or you suck:)
there are 2 sequals... both suck out load ... or rather this one sucks less than part 2 or 3:)

No Man's Land (1987) Starring: D.B. Sweeney, Charlie Sheen Director: Peter Werner Rating

"Itailan Trash besides I only steal Porsches"

Bout all I can think of off the top of my head... some good stuff in there:)

As far as car driving and action, The Transporter is good, Transporter II not so much, a little far fetched.

I liked the first Fast and Furious (except for the exploding NOS) I havent seen 3 yet.

Of course my boys love Pixar's CARS (I do too), great movie and look at all the real race car drivers in the cast list at the end.

I have seen bits and pieces of Bullitt and want to see the whole thing.

they play (in the movie CARS) the team owners of the first team ... the low dollar ones. cant remember the damn name now hehe:) anywho they have sort of a new jersey-ish accent... have all the 'rusted' fans hanging out with them..

You porsche fans will probably like King of the Mountain. Its got Harry Hamlin racing a cool speedster on Mulholland and a surly Dennis Hopper character.

"2-Lane Blacktop" with James Taylor one of my favorites! If you look real close there is a brief scene with a orange Dodge Charger. The Brother driving it was one of the East Coast's / Chi-Town street drag race scene heavy hitters!
Can't remember his name at the moment but the guy was like 6-4" , 220 with arms as big as most guys waist! The Dodge Charger he raced was equipped with a factory experimental HEMI! I got to see it race several years ago and the thing was absolutley un-real!
Anyone out there remember his name? I'll scan through some old mags and try and find more info..

A recent movie I bought is Finish Line. Its a home movie type film that features a ton of mopars. It was worth the $18 I spent. I got it at www.finishlinedvd.com I think. Good movie though.

I realize you said they aren't the best movies, so no flames meant whatsoever. But Torque is the all time, absolute worst movie in the history of the world. So bad that I don't remember one car in it... and the bike scenes were insultingly bad to anyone who rides.

And as not so great movies go, it truly sucks.

Sucks I tell ya.

Where's the barf smilie?

Cuz that's how bad it sucks.

If you want to see a bike "movie" (it's a documentary actually) rent "Faster".

EDIT: Or of course "The World's Fastest indian".

Heres my list

#1 best car movie of all time. AMERICAN GRAFFITI- If you cant quote over half the lines of this movie off the top of your head- you suck. I laughed, I
cried, I painted my first car "piss yellow"

#2 Gone in sixty- the newer one. Angelina Jolie. Just skanky enough to be my number one spank bank girl. and the cars are cool too.

#3 Lemans- Its like porn, if your looking for a plot and stimulating conversation, look elsewhere. you might as well turn the volume off when the cars arent racing. If you like late 60s lemans cars watch on.

#4 Herbie ( the newest one) theres a bug in it- not just any bug, a bug that had Lindsay Lohans ass planted firmly in it. me likey.

Theres my list

ALL MENTIONED, but

American Graffiti - based in the one and only, modesto ca (G Lucas' home town none the less), its cool to see places and recognize em (the scenes actually fillmed here), the scene where they're go out in the country to race isnt really in the middle of nowhere anymore though.

Bullit - yeah, its up there

DEATH RACE 2000! - ahhahhha its great! everyone needs to see it

Your lookin at one HS student here who's seen bullit and likes to listen to some Misirlou every once in a while.

Little too much heing and sheing but awsome race footage.

Hot Rod was a good one. Anyone have a copy of it? I liked American Graffiti 2 because of the dragstrip action.

2 pages and nobody has mentioned the best 9 minutes of car footage ever filmed.

C'etait un Rendezvous by Claude Lalouche

Camera mounted on the nose of a Ferrari as it races through the early morning Paris streets at 140mph+, blowing through redlights, serving through traffic, driving on the sidewalk, all street flying by with the sounds of the Ferrari engine whinning and the tires squealing.

Awesome!!!!

I found a link to a small verison on the web. Check it out at:

Rendezvous

Scroll down a little and look for Ferrari en Paris. Oh, and turn up the volume all the way. Enjoy.
