I came across this drawing of a CItroen, very similar body lines to a Beetle. I have no room for ideas for a new project but maybe someone here's looking for some ideas so here they are:

Also check out the rear fender lines, maybe able to incorporate it onto a Beetle??

OT *Flashback*
helped a german guy out with his. He had stopped on the side of the road outside of heidelburg with flames spitting out from the bottom from a fuel leak. I pulled over to help. Guy had his daughter in her car seat like 5 feet away from it while he was using the mergency phone to call a fire truck. I dont speak german well if at all and communicated thru handsigns for him to use my cellphone if he needed While I went to move his daughter closer to him. Offered to stay and give a lift after the truck gets there but he was able to call someone with my phone to come and he said it was alright and thanx so I left. I made sure to keep a fire extinguisher in the car after taht.

Neat little cars. Like putting a motorcycle engine in a beetle.

When I was too little to remember I got to ride in one [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif[/img] Some guy brought one into my Dad's VW shop and he had to do some extensive mechanical work, the guy was so thankful my Dad would do the work (it was hard to track down the parts) that he let my Dad drive it for a few days.

I think the 2CV's even has the crazy one-spoke steering wheels found on later cars, and air suspension too. There was also a 2CV for sale at a collectible car dealership down the street about a year ago; never seen a panel though [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif[/img]

It has to do with the fact that the 2CV front suspension pivots behind the front wheel. When you lower one, the caster is increased significantly. When toy turn a car with serious caster, the wheels "lay over" in the direction of the corner, like a top fueler or an old meter maid trike. The good part of this is that laid back caster is good for high-speed stability.

the 2cv didn't have the hydropneumatic suspension, they used telescopic suspension that ran underneath the rockers, with a common part for both the front and rear on each side of the car. they're stupidly simple to lower though [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif[/img]

Yeah, I asked my Dad about it when I had a chance and he explained the suspension and engine...He actually did an entire engine rebuild on the one aforementioned.

I love those cars. I heard they're kinda suck-prone, but then again I've heard Beetle's were kinda suck-prone too, so maybe it's just big Muscle Car guys ragging on sensible little cars. I'd love to have one of those little Citroen's, they're like a flat-chested beetle.....errr....flat-sided beetle. Too bad we dont have more of them in the states, or at least up here in NE. It'd be cool to team up a vw club with a citroen club for a meet, just to see if there as tight a group as veedubbers are (ignoring the ever-present a-holes that get into groups normally).
