Default Need some opinions here.

I am thinking about trading my bug for this 46 Chevy Coupe. To me the rear suspension looks a little funky. Any thoughts?

Hmm, four bar set up with air bags. Welds don't look too bad. Floorboards a little on the thin side, since I'm able to see the welds. What's the front suspension like, and is this the usual 350/350?

Lets see the rest of the car! The frame rail drop behind the axle could be engineered better but it doesn't have to hold up much, so should be fine.

It ha s a 283/400. There are no shock mounts yet so i would have to fab those. It has a mustang 2 front suspension. My whole thing is i dont want to get this thing then have to redo the whole rear suspension. The car still needs a bit of work.

Here are more pics.

I'd probably add a few gussets to the rear frame rails and then rock the shit out of that car! Is it running and driving other than shock mounts?

Build some floors for the truck and it's good to go. Looks awesome sitting on the rockers, I wouldn't even paint it. (well maybe some metal flake on the roof...)

Front floors need to be finished. I believe the airbags need to be finished hooked up also. There are a few other things that need to be changed also.

The rear needs some work:
The upper bag mounts need to be tied together.
Rear shock mounts, plumbing, wiring, etc $$$.

Hopefully the front is better.
Some of that MII stuff is junk.

Nice looking car, assuming the body is solid.
Take a magnet to EVERYTHING.

I'm assuming you know how to weld.
Because you will need to.

Far be it from us to convince you to do something you do/dont want to do. If you wanna trade your bug off, for a cool project, do it. I personally am taking a break from bugs for a bit. That project has some serious potential, if it were me, at this point, the bug would already be gone.

If you do it, make it safe, make it your own and drive the wheels off of it.

Opinions are like ass holes, everyone has one, do what you want.

The 283 will get you just about anywhere. The 400 is strong enough, the rear might need a brace or two. Get the front shocks in and go for it.

And you are baseing that opinion on three pics of the rear end and two pics of the overall car. The one pic with the front end off is obviously an in progress pic. Based on the roof being different color in those two pics shows that there was some time between those shots.

Oh that's right, you're an all knowing expert...

I now return you all to the previously cool thread!

I'd say leave the body color it is, make it look like a pseudo-cop car or taxi yellow. Any way you do it, it's sweet!

I am going to take a look at it this weekend. Then I can get a better idea of what it is going to need.

Here is another thing that bothers me. Notice the placement of the brake pedal.

Seems like alot of cars in that decade had the most horrible high/tucked break pedals, or they stuck out so far. I'm not a fan of those sloped fire walls..... I'd remedy that.

All in all, takeing this car you will have alittle work ahead of you to even get it into a running upper class rat rod. It looks like fun, but I would never trade a bug for something like that unless it was at least 80% compleate... paint would also count a few % for me.

Good luck though and I will be hopeing to see some progress on this.

I built a 48 Chevy convertible and you can take a late 70's Impala/Caprice brake assembly booster and pedal and almost mount it with no modification and it would be correct. 350/350 must II susp.
