Operation X
Hello to a group of people that seem to enjoy the true nature of "Kustoms" no matter the shape or size.
My name is Ken Stewart, better know as the "Volkswagnut" of Stewart's Rod Shop, from North Carolina U.S.A.. Our motto "Built to drive not decorate" (Check out the new Facebook page).
In case you recognize the name, yep it's me the guy that changes the VW belt in 5 seconds (give or take) on the bad days. I'm sure that video has made its rounds.
Our shop started with a 51 Mercury and we have yet to look back. The shop currently has 2 projects a Ford Maverick Sprint and its refined brother a Mercury Comet GT.
I have been around here for a while, and decided to finally join in. I am not known for jumping on the social wagon, but you guys seem real with similar interest. My ongoing project, started in late 2011, is a Volksrod like so many of you have artfully created. I truly admire the creativity of kustoms. The plan, as of now, 66/67 Beetle, chopped top with a Corvair heart transplant, plus some personal kustom touches by the "Volkswagnut". Its name is "Operation X". This final outcome is always subject to change by welds and filler and the artist discretion. It may not be as skillfully created as so many of you have show cased, but it wont be a cookie cutter car either. Nice to meet you, I'll be around.
