Sarel Wagner
Hi to ya all, nice site here
I live in South Africa in a city called Centurion.I love VW's and have a few. An original 63, a 67 and this is the project, a 71 rustbucket and my dad's 73, disassembled currently. Also have a Fleetline 75 Split single cab with wide loadbed.
I love doing Safaris all over Africa, been to a number of places from Angol to Zambia and Mozabique to name a few. Some picture on my Flickr account here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sarel_wagner/sets/
Also have a build blog of my project here: http://konzeptdrei.blogspot.com/sear...max-results=17
Starting from the beginning.
The Plans are for a 2.3L NA Type 4 motor with Fuel Injection on a Bux gearbox. Air ride suspension all round with Porsche disks on all 4 corners. Chopped roof and Oval rear window with a new custom dash and modern gauges and a HUD (Heads Up Display) Also a full logging capable display system with at least 8 data channels.
Please enjoy.

Re: Sarel Wagner
This is some of the work that was done to date.
Chopped the original roof with factory sunroof
Replace the rear 67 window with an oval window. The roof is now lower but still keeps exactly the same factory roof lines and profile @ of me mates helping out! Pierre did most of the cutting me doing the rest.
Still using the same standard front windscreen glass, no cutting of the glass required, and yes the roof was chopped 2 inches (50mm) Its a very subtle look

Re: Sarel Wagner
Time I guess for an update, been some time. :)
Out here in South Africa many of the more specialised tools are no longer available, it's mostly roll your own. So I had to start building a few tools I will need later on. Hi-res picture are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sarel_w...7624661813246/
The rotisserie, not complete, still need to do the twirley whirley bits.
Metalshaping workstation, not complete yet, still have to do the tray on top, the hammer rail and the foot pedals for the shrinker/stretcher.
I also adapted an old and damadged gearbox and converted it for use on my engine stand....
After more than 20 years of good service, I got my 3HP compressor a little helper. Plumbed the two tanks together to get enoug flow for the sandblaster (New) and HLVP sprayguns.
Also got the small OA system with a regular Afrox torch as well as the gas saver valve with pilot light and a DHC2000 torch. Busy finishing the OA cart.
