Default dangeroustoy's Thread

OK... So I am going to start all over since my original post was deleted in the crash...

Hi... I'm Dave Brisco, and I'm a Volksaholic!

Below is a photo of my 63' daily driver but I will soon be adding by build pics for my Volksrod project.

I am looking forward to hanging out here and getting to know the group!

See you in the funny papers...Dave

Spent the morning building a body dolly and removing the body from the chassis.

Found a some rust that I didn't know was there. Looks like there must have been some moisture between the body seal an chassis. The chassis is a 68 and the body is a 60 so I know it had been apart before, I think the car was built into a california style bug back in the late 80s or early 90s. I was hoping that the area under the battery would be the only rust I would have to deal with, but no dice!

Haven't posted in a while! I have been stockpiling parts for the last year while I have been working on other projects.

Started working on the chassis a couple of weeks ago and have been making some progress. Completely disassembled the pan and had it sandblasted. Now that the parts are clean I should be ready to start mocking up the front suspension.

Hope to have some photos to post soon!

Dave

Been making a little progress on the chassis for the Volksrod...

I was able to get the 68 pan cleaned and blasted. I have started assembling the front suspension. Did a little drilling on the backing plates which are 48 Ford and added some air scoops. I also built some seat brackets from the existing VW seat frames and sandblasted those as well. Wheels are 32 Ford 18 inch spokes. Had them straightened and powder-coated bright red.
