Apparently its good manners to introduce yourself at a party, so here I am
I'm Dale, 34 years old and been into vws for the past 18. My parents when I was young were into custom bikes, you know hardtail frames custom paint work, dads got a Harley etc, so custom bikes and cars became a bit of a second nature.
At 16-17 I was asked about getting a car with a limited budget, it had to be old because thats what was cheap, I couldnt have a custom car but maybe I could have something thats adaptable to that: a Morris Minor or a Vw Beetle. I eventually Chose a beetle and went a bit custom with it, deseamed no chrome etc.
From there its what I have always liked, then in 2003 odd I saw my first volksrod and thought thats cool, I want one!
Recently I have been looking at all my spares and have been planning/thinking/dreaming about building a Beetle inspired COE type thing. Something with the wheel base/mechanics of a beetle, but the looks of a COE. Midmounted engine, hydralic tipping bed, but not something as fugly as the beetle COE's I have seen on the net!
