Re: Fernons Chop
What brand die press did you get? It's obviously quality since it's still working after so much use 😏
Any tips for someone that is complexly ignorant on the tool?
Thanks

Yes...still running the 165's on the front, no complaints with the set-up but I do need to get the front end re-aligned, I get a nasty death wobble at 90mph...
REAR – Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R 30x12.00R15LT on 10” x 15” Centerline Rims. FRONT – 165SR15 on 4” x 15” Centerline Rimes (pizza cutters). The classic Big Littles look.

Sorry to burst anyone's bubble on the high tech tools that we used on this build but you do not need to spend a fortune on tools to get great results. The press is from Harbor Freight
http://www.harborfreight.com/hydraul...kit-96718.html
and the dimple dies I had bought from a company in Texas back in 2009 and only paid $140 for a 7 pc. set from 1/2" to 2" in 1/4" increments.
We have used high dollar tools and they break just as easy as the cheep stuff especially when you are cutting up a car, the only difference is that when a $20 tool fails it doesn't piss you off as much as when a $200 tool fails that does the same thing.
As far as Tips on the tool DON'T BUY IT... It is the best and worst tool you will ever own. The best because it allows you to do stuff like we did and the worst because you will not be able to stop doing stupid stuff like we did.

I know I haven't been on here in a while with any updates and there have been many, I have just been to busy with life like everyone else to sit down and post things up here. I will try to make an effort to do so.
That being said, this site and the people that are on here have always had my back and I want to thank you. This is the comment that I left on the website that made the video. Since I cannot confirm they are or actually have made money off of it I tried to keep the comment low key.
Hello everyone and thank you for the kind words. I did not make this video nor did I authorize anyone to use the images that were taken from my build thread on Volksrods.com (http://www.volksrods.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19805) used to make this video. I do appreciate the effort that went in to making this video but I had nothing to do with it except for the 7 years of my time that it took to build the Volksrod. If you wish to learn more about the build and see some of the finished work that is not in this video you can follow me on Volksrods.com (http://www.volksrods.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19805) or Instagram @efernon Again thank you for the kind words about the car but I did not have anything to do with this video.
Again, thank you for the heads up and I will try and post some new updates for the car.

So here is the update on the Youtube Video that Cheral Auto used my images to make. After a lot of running around with Youtube they finally agreed with me and took the video down. The funny thing is, as soon as they removed the video Cheral Auto had no problem contacting me to let me now that the video was removed. This was the response that I received from them.
Dear Sir
i'm david from cheral auto
We hope you will understand us
We apologize for the use of images without your permission
But we are not malicious ends if you have noticed, we do not attribute to us your project
However, you have the right in everything you have done.
But it is better if you contact us and we will delete the video
You know that the removal of the video by force has touched us ...
Then we ask to remove the complaint filed in the knowledge that the video has already been deleted
and thank you
cordially
Let me start off by saying I am probably the most laid back easy going person you will ever meet and I will bend over backwards to help anyone out. That being said, I would not have any problem with them making the video and I do realize the amount of work that it took to make the video, but at least give me the common courtesy to tell me that you have made this video with my images and hard work.
I am not mad that they made the video and are making money off of it. I was more concerned with the constant complaints that I was receiving from people that the video was over an hour long and nothing but commercials, again I had nothing to do with the video but it was reflecting on me and I happen to take pride in MY WORK.
This company is still making videos of peoples builds and apparently profiting from others hard work.
Again, Thank you and everyone in the Volksrod community for looking out for each other.

From the interesting language characteristics of the letter, I don't think those who stole your work are from around here.

Re: Fernons Chop
One thing I've noticed in this build, other than it being amazing, is the headlight placement. I've seen some builds where they are too high, low, wrong shape, set back etc... These are just right. Kind of like getting the perfect knot on a tie.

Thanks... The headlights along with everything else was mocked up a hundred times to make sure they looked right. There was a lot of let's try this and see, some times you luck out and it turns out right, then there are those times where you just step back and say WTF. It's the fun of building a custom car.

Looks great Fernon! One idea I had was that if you redrilled the holes around the wheel to expose some bare aluminum, it would match the bad ass shifter!

The shifter is solid sleeved all the way through so you see the silver a lot more the steering wheel is too thin to get the same results, believe me that was my first thought when I got it but it really wouldn't look the same.

It is a Sprint Car Steering Wheel from Joes Racing Products. I was a little concerned about how it would feel with all of the holes but after driving with it I actually like it better than my old high dollar wheel and it really freaks people out when I hand it to them - it weights nothing...
Here is a link to their website.

The scary part is that it has actually happened more than once...
