Default Petunia Project

Hello to all,

not new to VWs but on my way to a come back. The first car I was ever in was a 57 bug that my parents owned when I was born in 58. We had bugs on and off ever since up untill late 90s when I had a 66 bug that I drove for 3-4 years and then sold to fund my shifter kart racing hobby. Kids are grown and gone so after so many years of enjoying kart racing I decided it was time to switch back to my VW roots.
I started by bringing home another 66, then came across a 68 pan that has been restored, then a 67 shell. Been pondering what to do with all this when I came across a 59 that I ended up bringing home. Called her Petunia.
She is a matching body/pan and I believe engine too. The engine is currently in pieces but the serial number is from Feb 59 and so are the body/pan which makes me believe that they all came out of vw together. It does not matter to me, but I would like to know.
The rag top is not original but that was a big reason why I ended up getting her home.
Now the question is how to proceed with my build.
I have sold the driver 66 but kept the 1600dp/2 barrel prog carb/petronix ign running engine. Also sold the 67 shell. Still have the 68 chassis that could end up for sale also or just wait to start my volksrod build.
And that is why I started looking into this forum to get a sense of what it will take to do a build. In an ideal situation, I will be able to build both, the 59 and a vr. Time will tell.
