gone, done, outta here!
well, it will return though, in late spring to get some art put on it , a purplepeople eater, and a rebel flag on the roof patch. weather is just to screwy right now, I need at least 3 solid days of 80*, yeah right!!!

here's the proud owner

and some comparison shots with TOAD's, mine is temporarily imobile so the low rider wasnt in the shots.

I thought I had interior shots, but none, it is all black scat, clean and slick, for an old bug, came out right nice.
onto the next project,, CLEANING THE GARAGE!

updates on stuff we been doing. after baja left, he did this,,,
914 to the bay

baja came back, so it became known now as the sparkly or glitter bug..

glitter is gone, bus has since had a distibutor change, tach reads correct now, not 5000rpm @55mph, now it's 4800 rpm @ 70mph. Then last night he put gauges in the dash, oil press, temp, and volts.

Took mine to macon last weekend, leaking worse now, have to go back this saturday sometime to pick up teen, guess I better top the fuel and fill the oil. I'll keep driving it til there's room on the list to get it fixed, switched out, or parked. Toad now has no dist, it got put in bus. So that leaves me my trusty old steed the bronco. Maybe if I go back to driving it, I'll get up the nerve to airbrush on it too....
ok, so now that I have checked the remember me box, hopefully i can get this to stay this time?
back to having fun....

GOTTA REMEMBER TO CLICK THAT BOX!
onto it then~
wow, don't know how far back this was, been july since I wrote anything.
glitter bug blew a plug out the head, it's getting rebuilt this weekend. Dragon's engine, which is really toad's engine got a tweak this week too. A 125 cam/lifters and new mains. Gotta check those case nuts ! the center bearing was well on its way into the copper and pressure started dropping fast!
And the bus still sits. I'm not likeing t4 engines very much and wish we never had them. So far , the first 2 have eaten ex valves, same cyl too. and this third one from the 411, has an airleak on top of the same cyl..... I have a bad feeling on it too...
Speaking of bad feelings. I mainly came here to post something about the bike. I've seen some of you guys say we women shouldn't get our way, compromising is not the thing.
Here's the jist of it. I was cool with it at first, cheap trans back n forth to work, that's cool. He put $ in we don't have to fix it, runs great now, that's cool too. I started getting bad feelings though. The county we live in is growing too fast. In fact it's the fastest growing one in the state. Roads are getting cramped, county can't keep up, driving is getting bad to and from town in the mornings and at night. Idiots around here drive like their asses are on fire ! The accidents are becoming more common and more of them are deadly. And cops in their new magnums , trucks and mustangs aint doing shit to slow it down.
I started getting bad feelings of him being so small , surrounded by suv soccer moms and dads with cell phones, make up, kids screamin in the back, drivers trying to light a smoke or drink their coffee. I trust hubby's driving, I don't trust anybody elses ! I started getting sick, started hateing the bike. If he got seriuosly injured on it, It would do me in. Yes we are that attached. We have wires, we can read each others mind, that attached.
We talked about it, he offered to sell the bike, parked it at work, leaves it there. The money will go into the bus. We want family outings, and will refocus on that.
I think we compromised, he said no, the bike was fun, not as fun as 20yrs ago, his choice, the bike is not worth the side effects it was causing, me being sick . He can drive the dragon as long as he needs, I don't go anywhere anyway. When the bus is stable, I'll get it back. I don't really hate the bike, but I don't like the idea of him being seriuosly injured or worse, killed on it. I am scared to death of them though and won't ride one. In a few years, when things settle around here, one kid moves out, other grows up a lil, we'll try a trike. If I can handle being on it, we'll keep it, if not, there are lots of folks around here said they'll buy it! Hubby says it's no big deal to him. Bus will be more comfortable anyway, he can smoke, drink his coffee, have tunes, and no more bug guts on his clothes. LOL!!!
So you guys who whine about your women acting weird, demanding and thinking they want to take all your fun away. I like fun too, I just want to enjoy it with someone, with hubby. BUT i'M NOT A GARAGE WIDOW! I LIKE BEING IN THE GARAGE!
I aint mad at nobody for their thoughts on the way they think women should be~ just stating my reason on why the bike is forsale. Take it how ever you want, but we are both happy with the decision he made. I swore to him 12 yrs ago, I'd never force him to get rid of a ride, (his ex wife did though) I was a lil upset with myself thinking I had gone against my word, you know what he said? That promise does not apply to bikes.
So go 'bout the women bashing and I'll go 'bout my men bashing, but just remember, I still think this is the coolest family on the web, I live in no other vw forum. And all you 'guys' are cool.
So invite wifey to get greasey with ya, slimey stuff can be sexy ya know! LOL!!!
my personal rant is over, and I need no replies, it's my intro. Now got cut something, I got flaming to do!

well I got a nice way to end the week. I'm sure some of you have read my bike stuff above? ok, IT"S GONE!!!! WOOHOO! Hubby has been surfing for NEW t4 parts for the bay today. No more old shit.
We just might be able to go camping soon! woohoo!
PLUS~~~~~ he had been talking with asemi local(next county) about doing some line boring on a bunch of cases we have. He called him up yesterday. Turns out the man is selling out , But he likes Hubby , so he offered him the line equipment. We'll call and go see him tomorrow, I don't want to wait on this. We have had oppurtunities like this before that have slipped away. And he did say don't wait too long.Very nice man too. He had already made a deal with hubby on doing the 9 cases we have too,.

So see? the bike may have seemed like I got my way, wasn't like that at all. His choice and it has worked out . this is what happens when 2 people, C O M M U N I C A T E! We're both happy as can be now! and so is the new owner of the bike!
Hubby did ask though,,,,, if he comes across any cheap, easy to fix, put some art on to resell only bikes? THAT I can deal with!
Gonna fix the bus~ Gonna fix the bus!!!!
can you tell I'm happy?

Went rd trippin yesterday
What we were told was a buggy, turns out to be a bradley gt. No t tops, no doors , no galss. $300, for a sports car still aint bad. Don't think it's original. Too many subtle differences.

Any body know what car donates the front windsheild? My uncle has one he got as a kit and built, but has lost the books to it and he can't recall what car the glass came from. Bradely gt .com, ? I can't find anything there! Windsheild, alll it needs. have chassis and we got engines~

Also got some new tools on another trip . A line bore tool with brand new bits, oil pumps, screen s and a 'lil dude ' tool.

will pop a pic up of the bradley after it gets a wipe down, it's a might dusty sitting under a pole barn for the last 5 yrs. And rumor is, we might be getting another gt for labor on another baja, not sure, but would be cool to have his n hers twin gts,

pics as promised. It's all washed up now. Was originally red, or at least the gel coat is probably red. Now matter, it's gonna be a dodge gold/bronze with twin rally stripes. Not gonna be something we attack right away, have other things on the top of the todo list first.
But it's a good project I think......
it is sorta shiny, the water is still running off it in these pics,

haven't done much of anything in the last month. Damn cold weather, heat waves, and probably doing something I should not have,(like clean the cave, and falling into a sliding door) aggrivated my shoulder. It's gone from a knife in my back to a sunburn. Chiro popped it alot last week. Maybe it'll ease off now. Just may be something I will learn to live with and ignore over time~

The shriners buggy I posted in the yesterday thread.... Damn, too bad we couldn't just sand off the yellow and green. The gel coat was heavy gold glitter. That would be a pretty buggy. But it's faded in alot of areas cuz time sitting in the sun and probably no wax over the years has made it nasty. Hubby has picked out a nice yellow and a darker metallic green. I have the templates drawn for the new fez on the front, just waiting to go in and cut it out. Hard to lean over a desk at the moment. I wish the nose of this buggy was removeable too so I could stand up to paint it... oh well. It's gotta get done.

The bradely is sitting on a chassis. On hubby's vac, he slid it off on to one. it sits out back now til next year sometime. I covered it with dragon's cover.
that's about all for now~ will post a pic of buggy when it's finished~

found some other things on this buggy I wish I could replicate~
Thought I'd share the hidden lines~I used a large sheet of tracing paper and copied the lines from the top of the engine cover, the others on the fenders I should've gotten before hubby hit them with the da, ohwell, poo happens.

and a nice spot of hidden glitter~

hubby spent early yesterday filling in all the extra holes on the buggy. The owner doesn't have the top for it, so why have all those holes? I feel bad cuz I haven't been out there helping. darn weather screws with my shoulder :crying:
he went to the woods for a few hours in the afternoon, when he got back, he got the primer on it.
I spent most of the last few days working on the new hat design, I just couldn't stand it that the logo was not correct. the sword was too small and the bottom part was too big.
Then yesterday I started cutting the stencil.

the piece missing on the bottom is the town the club is from , macon, ga. I still have that and letters for the engine cover to cut out today. hope to have color on it tonight and then I can paint tomorrow.

Hubby stayed home today to get the colors on the buggy. I tried to get the art done but cold over took the shoulder and standing over this thing for a couple hours didn't help Will get it finished tomorrow, but it may not get cleared now until thursday, depends on the weather, rain doesn't matter but temperature does!

this is corvette yellow and the green is just a pick from a color file, but atleast it's not john deere anymore!

when we pulled the tape and paper off, he had a thought, the buggy now has a name~ MEET CRAYOLA!

hellfire had asked me to get alot of pics of doing the art, sorry, I got too involved trying to beat the cold~

this is the 'as of now'. will do the face with the head dress tomorrow~

I'm finally done with my part~ next pics will probably be friday when the sun comes back out. Praying that the rain stays away until 630 or so, and the temp stays up, he'll clear it tonight as soon as he gets home.
But he's already been warned, no more jobs in fall! if he does, he WILL find a knot on his head from a cast iron fry pan

close up

sorry for all the pics this week, but gotta show the family

I'll try this again, got logged out after being to long winded the last time

short of it, the bay now sits with NO t4 parts in it. He's worked the last 2 weeks to put the original stuff back in. Put together an engine with parts borrowed off my old leaky 1600. Everything inside checked out fine.
Anyway, as like the rest of us, at some point ya get burnt out on things, he's burntout on bugs, period. Have 2 projects he's traded parts and work for, due out in spring, after that, 'dragon's den' as turbo named it, will be personal work only. We got so over run with doing odd jobs, that our stuff has gone un cared for. He's already said if the bay blows again, it goes up forsale. Maybe if we stop for awhile, we can get caught up and maybe after getting either a better garage or this one gutted and all the stuff in storage sheds, we can do one here and there. We'll see~

some good news, weather being as screwy as it is, I have been practice my flames, during the day. I hope ya'll can tolerate me when winter does set in, I'll be going house crazy when it does!
all for now, and maybe it'll stay,
if bay runs well, I post it up, but it seenms when I do, it blows the next day, so maybe I won't
have a good one ya'll~~

all I'm gonna say is,,,,

IT's A LIVE IT'S ALIVE!!!!
it moves, it runs, smokes a bit, but the old original heater boxes are soaked with old oil.
I guess since the third t4 never actually drove the bay around for any length of time, it don't count as engine #3, so maybe this straight stock lil 1600 can be #3, third times a charm?
Says it has no great torque, but I know I saw alot of sand flying in the drive when he punched..... so we shall see,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

hmm, well? ah yes,
I DROVE THE BAY!
needed somethin for supper, so we went to the store, I drove. yeah, it's slow, the shifter is like gummy, can't quite tell where it's going.
But it's running. Oil pressure aint great neither, but that's what happens with an unknown block but seemingly tight bearings.
Still floats like a boat!

back to the normal stuff now~
t4's, who needs it!

So it has made it now almost a month. The modified oil pump works fine. And switching to elec ign put the tach where it sounds like it should be , 55mph/32-3300rpm.

He took the old a/c unit and the sink/cold box out, put a bucket seat in and christmas day, moved the speakers from the back rack to under the rear bench, they can be heard now.
He was going to just patch the old holes up, instead, we're going to install low lighting, with plexiglass covers
here's some pics~

debris~ I have the sink in a safe place, currently useing it to store some paint parts

used old a/c bottom for cover

these are speakers from his toad, he put the others up front in the doors, they are waterproof,,

well we've started on baja#2 for the purple guy. He brought this over when he first pick up the other one~

he has cleaned the insides out, what a bear getting the seats out!
He lined one side of fenders and then nibbled them off, nibblers are such a cool tool!

if you want to see how we copied them to the other side, check out the album~
it's listed as baja 2

oh, and for those who ask, 'whats the difference with super beetle noses and standards?' here ya go~

guess I should add a lil more to this.
The floors are pretty decent. only needs the rear half relaced, but the cargo compartment is shot too.
ince the purple one was for his daughter who is going thru teenage spoiling withdrawals since he booted her back to mommas house, he says he doesn't want to go into as much on this one. So the interior is pretty decent, needs a rear seat though. Will need a headliner, but we aint doing a stocker no more! first one was a pain in the ass!
He hasn't decided what he wants to do wth the nose yet, may get a chop, since it's really messed up on the front. But is keeping drum brakes, and no fancy paint, will go a mettalic dark green. Will hopefully get this out in the next couple of months, aint gonna be no 2 year deal on this one!
all for now~

yep, more work~ wants this out asafp!

used brakeline in a roll, tacked it to the edges, adds extra braces and strength to the fenders since the outer roll is removed. We learned this from a freind in fla, building a roof for a car.

will use a lil fiberglass to shape the roll, not as extreeme as the purple one was.
progress of tonight~

has 3 done, needs more tubing, finish tomorrow.

nothing else done, weather went cuckoo, too cold out . Have had a mix of things go on this week. He starts as new mgr next monday, so that will sorta cut into his bug time. Won't be getting home til 7pm m-f and probably 1 on sat.So until warmer longer daylight time gets here, he'll only have the day and a half on weekends to work on it. Oh well, This car was sorta pushed in on the schedule we already had, should be working on dunebuggie instead of this baja.
He finally put the heater hoses back on dragon, so there's now heat back in the pit. Though, the car itself hates cold weather, went up town yesterday 36* damp, car refused to idle, glad I have a working e brake.

Instead of putting this next bit on the board, I'll put it here. Today is a bad day to end the week. Have been putting it off for the last 6 months, finally had to put down an 18yrsold house dog. Though we only had him for the last 3-4 years, I've known him all his life. Was my mom's dog. With out going in to icky details, his life just wasn't what it was anmore, he wasn't functioning well any more. Robert took him to the vet this morning and he sleeps now . He can now go see my dad, go fishin, loved riding in the boat with dad, just go hang out.

And I also remembered, today is the day I graduated from high school, the last early grad class.
What a f***ing day~
