Hey Mark... any ideas on the final color scheme yet?
Or is that a bit way too far off in the future?
Damn I love this build. I'm still stoked about the ideas you got for it..

Here is an old rendition of what I have an mind....

small bubble top ghia-white.bmp

Side body line has been changed since this....so graphics will be different as well.

Thinkin' a pearl white - it hides poor body work!

The offer still stands to roll that thing out in the open, give me a good reference shot from a high 3/4 rear view, and I will do some sketching/rendering.

I am really diggin' the quad lights on that Ghia tha Grumpy posted. Look like mid 60's Ford or Mercury? I think it would look much better without the faux grill though.

Yeah, this story actually made sense.

No mention of Hookers, Meth, Father Fury, Cole Foster,
no run on sentences, all the classic Germ story trademarks.
Obviously an impostor. Accept no substitutes.

I am stoked!! Thank you so much! I do want to tack the front headlite cover on and finish up the new front-rear fender lines, so you can get a much better idea of what is rattlin' around in my noggin' I don't want to waste your time!

I am leaving for Seattle in a couple hours - and will try to finish up some quickie stuff by mid-week next week. I hope that works and the offer is still standing then!

Thanks so much for the kind words guys, but I'm not even a Germ impostor - or even a Germ wannabe. Germ's been my hero for many years. He scares me, but he's my hero.
He scares me and is my hero, because Germ speaks the truth with the intercooled breath of a parts cleaner that cuts straight through any bullshit I may be hiding behind. Germ sees into our souls and celebrates the light in us by blasting our very ids with the harsh glare of honesty, set to a Gene Krupa beat and filtered through the solvent of a thousand engine rebuilds. If I live to be a thousand, I'll never hold a candle to that.
But I can write a run-on sentence with one keyboard strapped behind my back, much like the time the crew at Champion Raceway tied me to the Christmas tree and left my sorry ass there for a week, baking in the August sun to sweat the red lights out of me and to this day, I swear it's the best thing that ever happened to me, only because I'd rather be dead than red when it comes to leaving and now I can at least run the whole quarter and lose honestly, rather than shoot myself in the foot with my own testosterone like so many of the young roosters I snickered at and so you see, Karma doesn't have an off-switch and neither do I.
But apparently Germ does, as he's been MIA for a couple years now. Hope you're still out there somewhere Germ, inspiring wrenches like me to take it straight on.
Ahem. So, how 'bout those decklid vents on that Ghia?

Not sure what number I am, but I'm one of Mark's older brothers. It was not my intent to hijack this thread. I first posted to cheer him on, but when you guys cheered ME on, my maniacal ego took over and - you know the rest. Ugly, isn't it?

What matters here, to me, is Mark realizing his vision, no matter what you guys think - or the guys on some other board. We can all learn from that and be inspired by it.
I'm sure he values your support, but bottom line: He has to let that dream loose, lest it turn to some kind of poison inside of him. His vision is pure - his heart honest.
So he can't go wrong.
Was nice meeting you guys. Sorry I got so windy. At least I learned something here. Thanks,
Scotty

Now I've seen it all! VWhabit... you transform metal into your dreams but now look how you've tranformed your own flesh and blood! Jangleguy on a VW forum? Its official, you win, both brothers now have the "bug." Jangleguy... I know deep down inside you miss your '66.

Congrats on going forward with your dream! One thing is for sure, just like the Rubber Chicken... the Dub-n-Air is with out a doubt very much YOU and nobody can take that away. At least you're out there working. More than I can say lately! So keep on hammering the piss out of that thing!

Indeed, in the flesh even! And yes, not to be confused with the more artistic Chris Clark (I can't draw worth beans) who ironiclly isn't my not-so-evil twin. Don't confuse me with that guy either.

btw, I am still waiting for my "Chris Clark Customs" tool box sticker.

Yeah, well I have it here.........why don't you come down in your grubbies and help me on the car for a day and I will GIVE it to you!
No charge!

Having a famous rod builder like you work on my car would be outrageous! I would even let you sign my dash!

Worked a little bit and here's where I'm at.

Roughed in the drivers side. Still have the rear fender wells to do this week. Not sure about the front wells until I set up the stance - so it's just tacked on.

Thoughts (the good, bad and ugly)?

It definitely needs to be slammed. I like the wheel well opening shapes once it is slammed.

I am not a big fan of the "tall bubble" look. A little too Jetson's for me. I would prefer something more like this...

Either way....great work on the overall metal shapes. Really liking the way this is turning out.

Yeah, I gotta agree that the bubble is too tall. Lose about a foot off of it for a good start! I love the new body lines for the front of the doors, and the headlight bullets are a major turn on! Looks bitchin!
