OK....I went a little more than a rough sketch.

This is were I am going with the Sled. Not sure about the color yet, so grey primer will do for now.

As I can see on the pictures it will not only be an artists impression. You can make it happen

Everything about this project is great - concept, design, workmanship. With such an overall radical transformation, just wondering if you also want to do something different with the tail lights.

Is it time to get rid of that dang Partridge Family paint job yet??? ;)

It is kinda neat being able to see how many differnt pieces of metal are in there though. It's hard to sell me on anything other than an inches deep gloss black on something with those lines and all the heavy chrome, but then I'm just a freak for black cars. Henry Ford had it right ;)

Black paint, bright chrome and fat whitewalls.

That is just sick dude.

I like the Idea Fishguts has for the tail lights... I was thinking along the same lines. The car looks AWESOME!

Just wondering if you are going to have the bumper chromed or painted?

The stock early Type 3 tail lights are staying. (although I like the treatment FishGutz did). I just really like the shape and proportions of the stock tail lights. They finish the fin perfectly and will be one of the few recognizable Type 3 parts on the car.

As for the paint....not gloss black. I want to drive it in this lifetime and I don't have enough time to get the body work that perfect. I have been playing around in PhotoShop with the colors. I am sure I will come up with something that I like and will serve as a perfect canvas for a whole bunch of pinstripes.

The bumpers will get chromed eventually, but not right away. Will just get chrome rattle can paint.

Oh....and you are welcome Heidi!

OK...here are some of my favorite color combos. Still don't know which I like best, but I am a long way from paint.

the single tone deep red does it for me, but THAT car in ANY of those colors would stop me dead in my tracks, mid-conversation in gridlocked traffic and make me say "UMMM WOAH......" This beasty is just too slick, nice work.

It really doesn't matter what color you paint it jon...

I say buff it all off, polish, and clear coat. - J/K

I like the solid red, and the two tone.
But, it looks just damn sexy in solid red. Like a beautiful italian chick... long, and lean, with awesome flowing lines.

sigh....

great work on the bumper treatment.!

Oh, and uh yeah... come on! like this thread doesn't have nine million hundred thousand views as it is?

Oh, thanks alot John. Now my keyboard is all fucked up....

Hell man, like has been said, I don't think that you could go wrong with any of those colors. This car is going to stop people in their tracks and make them take a second and third look.

Honestly, I like Grey primer with some nice shiny chrome. That is how I went on my bug. If you are doing the painted chrome, I think it might look better against one of the darker shades. I do like the faded yellow one quite a bit.

Good morning John. I agree with the guys. You could paint that car john deer green with a mop and it would still be the nicest thing out there. My vote ? Any color combination, but two tone makes the final style statment on a build like this.

I like the black or red or the two-tone (reversed like someone suggested) but the orage would be good, too. The blue is okay but it would work if you're going for that 50s leadsled look. The yellow might be good depending on what actual color it is. I don't like it in the rendering but there are many pearl yellows that look great in person.
