Red and white stripes would really pop against it. Just about every flat dark blue car I have seen I have liked. It has the same visual punch as black does but, it's more unique. Plus, blue suede on a fifties-look car sure sounds right.

Yup, VW Dove Blue is the color I am leaning towards. Probably not Satin though. Also leaning towards making it shiny. Still not sure about the roof...part of me wants some big old metal flake on the roof and part of me wants to do some old school lace stuff. Not sure what color to do with the Dove Blue for either one.

As for the interior, I really like the red, but I also have enough leather in dark and light grey to do the whole interior. Might be a little too bland though in grey. I have a buddy that works for a leather supplier and I have been thinking about taking some of the lighter leather to him and having him dye it deep red and emboss it to look like snake or alligator skin. Use that as an insert with the darker grey leather. That would have some pop!

Why not do both with the roof. Yeah it's been done before but what hasn't.

I was a little worried when looking at the selecta...the rear of the roof looks too high. So I went back and looked at pics of the actual car and it's fine, of course.

So I came up with an alternative that I think is even cleaner and I can still have the FI brain in its original location if I want.

Anyway, on to the pics....

Lots of welding and some filler panels still to fabricate, but I am happy with the results so far.

I had a feeling you were going to have to relocate those ducts to where they are now. I was trying to tell you that back when you were first building the tray. That's why I suggested capping off the tops of the side air boxes to help keep the air flowing to the engine (instead of it spilling out over the top of them). Note, I'm mostly going off a Notch, and how it's cooling air boxes are set up, but you're also doing something along the same lines. The big difference is on a Notch, the air boxes intrude into the rear trunk area on the sides, while the way yours is set up, you'll be routing the air outside the rear trunk. I personally prefer it this way, as you don't loose as much trunk space (I have my Roadster as an example). Keep up the good work John, and I hope to see it again it person when it's on the road (or the 2010 T-3 Invasion whichever comes first).

Did a little more on the Sled today after spending part of my garage time adding some more 20amp outlets in the walls. I spent my time today working some more on the ducting for the cooling air intake. Getting closer....

and here is a composited shot of the interior of my garage.

More tomorrow.

Nope. That is my folding engine hoist. It is just sitting there free standing about 4 feet from Sophy.

My bike is resting on her, but I very gently set it there with just the rubber hand grip touching her front fender.

Got some more done on the Sled tonight...finally a halfway warm day. Got the air intake duct all roughed in and mostly welded up. Little more welding and lots of grinding to go. Supposed to be near 60 tomorrow, too.

Small steps....15 more months to go.
