Pulled the buggy engine after lifting the Manx body about 4 feet in the air. I'll bang on it tomorrow.

I mowed my back yard yesterday. For the first time this year (my lawnmower was broke and I just got it fixed)! I love my neighbors. Don't you wish your neighbors put up with shit like this?

It doesn't look like your neighbors are in view of your yard from that pic Turbo, but that could be because of the jungle you have there ;-)

my neighbors are only 8 ft from my house so I try to maintain my lawn fairly often, but I have a manual push mower, all I have to worry about is sharpening the blades and lubricating it

You noticed that also? No pot, just a weed ( and not the good kind).

OH, and my neighbors have full view of my yard. I only have 75' of total frontage (75'x210'). They're just really cool and unbalievably understanding.

Did a shit bomb can two-tone paint job on the old tow truck! I started sanding down all th PO's drips from his shit-ass bomb can paint job, but I ran out of patience in a hurry

Oh, also threw in chrome grill and headlight trim, adjusted the door and hood catches so everything closes tight and seams line up

Now I just gotta find a decent dash and door panels, hopefully some decent chrome or aluminum dually rims and she'll be all cleaned up!

I have been reading up on enameling lately. Very interesting and can be done with a torch.

Waxed my truck. I have a 2008 Dodge Hemi 4x4. It is black. While washing it I noticed white paint down both side. I guees some dumb ass must have drove through fresh paint on the road. It was from the front wheels back. Small white specks. About five hours of waxing go it off. Now my wife thinks I should wax her van. Before the waxing started I went to the shop where my bug is. I took measurements of the front track. I have a frame from a 1953 MG TD roadster and the front a-arms from a C5 Corvette. I think the Oval body would work great on this frame with Corvette suspension front and rear.

WOW!! I think you guys are going to set a record for trashed engines. VW engines generally take some abuse. I have pulled them out of junkyards and used them for a couple years. Are these old used engines or ones that you have done something to?

Charlie,
these are cases he's got stacked in a shed, old ones, stock. Remember a couple years ago we went and got a line boring tool? some have been lined, then he had to find cranks and bearings to fit.
He's had pins, oil gallies plugged, rod bearings shot, coolers shot, Each time it eats up the mains.
friday's engine~ he forgot the spring on the dist drive and it was jumping out of place.Made noise, he tore it down friday and then it locked up on sat.
Several it's been the dowel pins come out. The one yesterday he reset the pin all mains were locked in place, put new cyls and pistons on it since it was open again, it was fine. Ran for an hour in the shop on the floor. Had great vitals, oil, cooling.Never made it to 4th gear. The pin on the #2 main, rocked, that ended that. He has ANOTHER engine together now, with the set up he was going to do before we went to the car show and he bought a different set of mains to use that other block. This block is different. (I need #'s or letters to keep them straight) I can't keep up with the sizes ,std to 20, 20 to 20, but I can tell you I have no idea how he's keeping track of it all. The shop is running over with cyls and pistons, cases in the corner.
This engine sounds good so far. He has new pistons/ cyls on it, all new bearings. He just gave me an update on it. It's staying cool, good oil pressure , needs a lil fine tuning on the timing.....
He says if he can just not gear head it for a while it should break in just fine. I asked, 'by gear heading you mean?" he says, "not sticking my foot in it and rompin the hell out of it" ,, my response? 'you better put a throttle stop on it ,,,, his response? folowed by lolooo!

Mainly it's just he's burnt out, been doing this by himself for way too long (I usually always help) but with a problem child I'm not able to stay in there for the complete build.

We have 2 engines, really 3 sitting in cars out back, I keep telling him, let's pull those and get one to move and rebuild it correctly. We've done that before, dragon's 1st was a locked from water. I'm betting judging from the last plates on 2 of them, they didn't run long. But he's stubborn, insists he's going to make this live again~ I may become a garage widow yet~ all I can do is make sure he doesn't over spend. So far he's keeping himself steady.
we shall see what this one does~
He shoulda sold it a couple months ago when a guy asked about it, he could have bought a beefed crate for the bay, but ya know what they say about hind sight~
aint nothin but a thang now.

Sorry for the long post~
